The worst thing about Cherry Poppin' Daddies is, at a Warped Tour, I once saw a girl walking around, holding her mother's hand, and she couldn't have been older than ten or so, wearing a Cherry Poppin' Daddies t-shirt. Unto the pure all things are pure, I guess.

Went to see Future Of The Left the other week, and one support was Ice Sea Dead People, and I really couldn't see how it could get worse, but the first band were called Hold Your Horse Is.
― useless chamber, Thursday, 17 June 2010 22:35 (fourteen years ago) link
"Hold Your Horse Is" is also the name of a Hella album.
What about - Gay Against You ?

That makes it worse! "Why has your band got such a bad name?" "well we copied it off someone else."

It seems that crappy sub-pun phraselike band names are the order of the day. I don't know what's more irritating, things like Youthmovie Soundtrack Strategies, uninspired NRR names like The Hives, The Strokes, The Drums etc or early 90s band names that sound as though they were made to put you off like Toad The Wet Sprocket, Pity The Small Thumbs etc.

I kind of like the name Municipal Waste, but find it hard to intonate correctly in everyday speech, especially with a British accent. It's just that the phrase doesn't roll off the tongue very easily when referring to them as a band.
Same as Acrimony - is it pronounced "acri-many" or "acri-moan-y"?

Also, so many early rock bands from the late 1950s to early 1960s had incredibly mundane, unimaginative names.

Yeah this. If you're going to come to the table three years late with a band that sounds a little too much like Dungen, do not also put the word "tame" in your name.
