That's praise, btw.

This almost seems like too many tracks to deal with. Tracing sonic similarities, trying to figure out likes and dislikes... I feel like I'm studying for an exam.

But yes, more like Perlence Suns plz.

I also <3 <3 <3 Altichyre off Versions, that is some seriously affecting minimalism.
― ledge, Thursday, 22 May 2008 22:44 (sixteen years ago) link
The tracks are going to be coming out on iTunes in a fortnight as 4 seperate EPs
1 The Plc ccc Perlence range 7 Perlence Suns 90101-51-6
2 9013-2 Tkakanren 90101-51-19 Perlence subrange 3
3 chenc9-1dub 9010171-121 Perlence losid 2 notwotwo
4 Perlence subrange 6-36
and should be averaging around 35 mins each, Perlence subrange 6-36 is going to be interesting as the longest track they've released.

there's also a japan itunes store exclusive ep that came out last month.
tracklisting... 1. IO (mons) 2. 90101-54-4 3. Blyz Castl
― Creeztophair, Friday, 23 May 2008 01:02 (sixteen years ago) link
i think "io (mons)" might be the same version that's on the quaristice versions disc. this is all so confusing...

Hey worlds my bf posts on WATMM religiously and is following this new release closely. Argh board overlaps!

Does saying that "he must be the one with the Peter Gabriel avatar" come under the category of researching ur life? If so, I won't mention it
(Although he does appear to be one of the few reasonable posters on there)

Hahaha oh dear! ok wtf now he wants to know who you are on there!
― Trayce, Friday, 23 May 2008 11:33 (sixteen years ago) link
I haven't posted on there for years because I lost my password, so now I just occasionally lurk, and get riled by the fanboys.
There are folk on there that seem to take it as a personal insult that one of their favourite bands are releasing a large amount of new material, extremely cheaply, that they are under no obligation to purchase.

But dude it doesn't sound like [Incunabula/Tri Repetae/LP5/a.n. other era]!

Perlence subrange 6-36 = 134 Mb! (36 minutes)
― StanM, Friday, 30 May 2008 17:32 (sixteen years ago) link
(the mp3, that is. Flac = 234 Mb, they've somehow added a Flac link to my download page, but I only ordered the mp3 versions)
― StanM, Friday, 30 May 2008 17:33 (sixteen years ago) link
(xpost) correction: 58 minutes
― StanM, Friday, 30 May 2008 19:54 (sixteen years ago) link

can someone give me the lowdown on what autechre has done since the first 20 quaristice tracks were released. remixes/eps whatever. i listened to quaristice once or twice and decided not to buy it but my curiosity is making me want to give them a listen again. maybe the album is more complex/rewarding/emotional than I thought. [insert some other adjective that I meant to say]
― CaptainLorax, Monday, 7 July 2008 01:50 (fifteen years ago) link
they've been writing a concept album about you called lorax45%-hhy
― latebloomer, Monday, 7 July 2008 04:02 (fifteen years ago) link
also, they've taken up residence under your bed. THE ALBUM IS COMING FRROM INSIDE THE HOUSE
― latebloomer, Monday, 7 July 2008 04:03 (fifteen years ago) link
no I heard there was remixes and new stuff
― CaptainLorax, Monday, 7 July 2008 04:33 (fifteen years ago) link
what songs?
they put out 13 tracks (in high-res .mp3 and .flac formats, downloadable from bleep.com) that are mostly (lengthly, one track is approx. 59 minutes and very minimal) variations of the album tracks 'perlence' and '901010>>|-|'. There is a radical remix of the track 'the Plc', which is a highlight. It is also the first track that was released.
the regular album tracks are far more succinct and already contain most of the highlights. the only worthwhile track on the limited, 2xCD deluxe edition was an extended (and more developed) version of The Plc.

Out of any 2008 release that I spent a good chunk of time listening to, Quaristice is the one that completely dropped off the face of the Earth for me. And it was true for others, apparently - while 1678 other albums were mentioned in the 2008 Pazz+Jop list, Autechre makes no appearance.
Anyone still listening to this? What's the diagnosis (time of death, etc)?

Funny, I noticed this as well and almost noted it in the P&J thread.
― ilxor, Saturday, 24 January 2009 03:14 (fifteen years ago) link
I'm not a big Autechre fan, so haven't listened to this one more than, say, twice. Both times were the week I bought it, probably.
I kinda forgot about it too
― Pfunkboy Formerly Known As... (Herman G. Neuname), Saturday, 24 January 2009 03:17 (fifteen years ago) link
Well, one thing to remember P&J is a collection of top 10s. I can see how none of these 500 people thought it was one of the 10 best albums of the year, even those who liked it.
― Mark, Saturday, 24 January 2009 04:21 (fifteen years ago) link
I listened to a few tracks off it tonight on iTunes, still sounds just fine...?
― ilxor, Saturday, 24 January 2009 05:29 (fifteen years ago) link
but doesn't Pazz&Jop and other "best of year X" lists for that matter tend to favor albums that come out closer to the end of the year?
personally, I have listened to this album (and for that matter the new Squarepusher album) a lot this year (Itunes sez 11 times for Quaristice), and dug both records. But a certain number of folks that would have had more loyalty/interest say 5 years ago are just not noticing how truly strong these albums are.
― Neotropical pygmy squirrel, Saturday, 24 January 2009 07:03 (fifteen years ago) link
I listened to this album more times than it deserved. 901010 |-| etc. is a worthwhile track. and the opening wafts. otherwise it's garbage.
― Lowell N. Behold'n, Saturday, 24 January 2009 08:08 (fifteen years ago) link
I gave the album a good few listens and it didn't blow me away (tho' I certainly wouldn't say it's 'garbage') but then I basically overwhelmed myself by getting the album and the bonus disc and all the digital EPs and the Japanese bonus track - 45 tracks in total. Too much to take in. 'Altichyre' off the bonus disc is boooooootiful though.
