Also, has anybody else noticed that the guy in DCD sometimes sounds *eerily* like Barry Manilow? I mean that there's a particular tone in some of his vowels and some of his phrasing that just totally reminds me of Barry, I'm not just being a dick here.

i just downloaded part of 'the mirror pool' and it's really gorgeous. i really enjoy the DCD that i have (spleen and ideal, a passage in time(comp.), into the labyrinth) - should i dive right on into her solo albums? tell me about them!

one of the reasons i love ILM is the deep historical archive.tis a rare and beautiful thing.such a rare and beautiful thing requires a soundtrack of sonic beauty.if only there was something appropiate ...

I have been in a mad DCD/Gerrard mood throughout the second half of this year. What a great soundworld. I love knowing it's there for me to visit at will.

never heard anything before (by DCD or LG) getting this cd.clearly i need more.the use of vocal layers and detailed production is very much in line with another favourite of mine, untold things, by jocelyn pook.who i believe has also done a lot of soundtrack work.

Loved DCD intensely for a few years around 1991. Then, unfortunately, heard them interviewed, heard the Neil Diamond songs on Into the Labyrinth and made the major error of watching Toward the Within ... in the space of a year they went from ascetic goth sonic alchemists, to credulous hippie "we like whatever is spiritual and don't want to think too hard about it" clunkers. It was the worst kind of falling out which retroactively poisoned the love I had for their previous work. It's taken me 20 years to even listen to their great early records again. "Frontier" will never tarnish though.

I watched the documentary on her years ago and was really impressed, to me she seemed like someone from a future earth where everyone was way better. I just loved that thing she said about getting over grief from a loved one dying by focusing on your capacity for love... or something like that, but it was definitely beautiful!
Have people started calling DCD grand demons of appropriation or is their deep research of other cultures getting respect?

Was going to put this on my MP3 player but, strangely, my computer won't read either of the versions I have (from Duality and The Insider soundtrack). Weird copyright protection of the era?

So I wrote up a big ol' overview of her work for Shfl. And you know, I think I've *underrated* her for all these years now, and that's insane because she's been a favorite of mine for decades!

In my mind, I always compared DCD, probably unfairly, with the Cocteau Twins. They suffered by the comparison.
