Wow. Entire poll redeemed right at the very end. Well done "Stargazer". Shoulda been more Rainbow and some Purple (and Montrose!) in the 100 though.

It's my honest hope however, that after this ILM will have sated itself on polls
You mean after the Top 300 Metal/ Heavy Rock albums poll? That's THREE HUNDRED

I don't think I've heard more than 15 of these songs. But then I prefer the Cardigans' version of "Sabbath Bloody Sabbath" to the original.

Kevin's errant tracks ballot has been located and added. You'll get to see and explore the full data after the album countdown, so I won't repost everything. The order of the top 5 didn't change, though Kevin's votes for Supernaut and Ace of Spades increased the gap between the top 3 and everything else. His votes for "Search and Destroy", "When the Levee Breaks" and "Immigrant Song" pull those up from 15/17/14 to 6/7/8. Which should reinforce my point about the tracks poll having too few votes for any of the placements below 3 or 4 to mean much.
He also voted for "Kick Out the Jams", which moves it from the excellent countdown-opening #100 to a completely uninteresting #74.
Here's the new top 10, with notes for where the points went up:
1. Rainbow - Stargazer (1174/24)2. Black Sabbath - Supernaut (1111/23 from 1069/22)3. Motörhead - Ace of Spades (948/23 from 915/22)4. Metallica - For Whom the Bell Tolls (748/18)5. Guns 'N Roses - Sweet Child O' Mine (630/14)6. Iggy and the Stooges - Search and Destroy (623/16 from 576/15)7. Led Zeppelin - When the Levee Breaks (618/13 from 569/12)8. Led Zeppelin - Immigrant Song (614/14 from 577/13)9. Iron Maiden - Phantom of the Opera (610/15)10. Nirvana - Aneurysm (593/14)

LOL - thanks a lot, Kevin.

The weird stat that Kevin's votes didn't change is that everybody's last-place track got at least one other vote.
― glenn mcdonald, Friday, 6 August 2010 14:29 (thirteen years ago) link
I like "Stargazer" OK but, except that it's less overplayed, I'm not sure why someone would rank that higher than the best Zeppelin/Purple/Sabbath. I don't think the melody is all that original tbh. It actually feels a bit like a Tea Party song.
I generally love this thread though.

Billy, what was your tracks ballot anyway, lets see if it would have made any difference. Just post it here.
― pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Sunday, 8 August 2010 00:17 (thirteen years ago) link
I've resent it, if you're retabulating KJB's results you could include mine too. Cursrory glance at the tracks, I don't think it changes the 100, though a few songs move up quite a bit. If I'm right it'll take 'Search and Destroy' and 'Paranoid' into the top 10.
― State Attorney Foxhart Cubycheck (Billy Dods), Sunday, 8 August 2010 12:28 (thirteen years ago) link

we wont be retabulating as we didn't get the ballot in the first place, unlike kjb's, who got missed by accident, sorry.

ok holy fuck, this cromagnon track is UNFUCKINGBELIEVEABLE. if i had it all to do over again it would be in my top ten no question. album as a whole is right up my alley as well, but until we get an ALLTIME AVANT GARDE CRAZY AS FUCK countdown, i dont think i could really give it a poll nod.
that being said thx so much for bringing this to my attention yall.
