There's a new Moderat compilation called "50 weapons of choice #2-9" that's all remixes and stuff, but this 2009 album of theirs, man, wow. Just heard it again after a while and it's just phenomenal.

okay I had to pause the stream for a while and when I came back, I lost track of where I was in the track listing but this dubby shuffle beat track is THE SHIT
(I originally wrote "is fucking THE TITS" but that didn't look right)
― My Buddy® of sexting (DJP), Monday, 29 July 2013 19:15 (ten years ago) link
FYI the track I'm freaking out over is "Milk"
― My Buddy® of sexting (DJP), Monday, 29 July 2013 19:20 (ten years ago) link
yeah this album is THE SHIT. let in the light, milk, therapy, damage done, and this time are all favorites
― diamonddave85, Monday, 29 July 2013 19:34 (ten years ago) link
Versions and Therapy too... In fact, Gita is the only one I don't like (yet?)
― StanM, Monday, 29 July 2013 20:52 (ten years ago) link
Lovely stuff.

I like this but it doesn't feel any more or less of anything than the first.
― boxedjoy, Monday, 29 July 2013 22:05 (ten years ago) link
i remember being disappointed by the first but this is v lovely - though i agree with boxedjoy that it's not really any different
― lex pretend, Tuesday, 30 July 2013 09:25 (ten years ago) link
I also agree with boxedjoy, only I adored the first one too
― My Buddy® of sexting (DJP), Tuesday, 30 July 2013 13:57 (ten years ago) link

― carlos danger zone (mh), Tuesday, 30 July 2013 13:58 (ten years ago) link
This is exactly what I wanted? I don't understand the question.

xxpost: the Bad Kingdom single (with those lyrics) was released a month ago
Just received the deluxe edition, including booklet (pics & lyrics) and a bonus track that has lyrics and everything (was expecting some atmospheric/filler/instrumental track, but this is a full on ballad kinda song)
― StanM, Tuesday, 30 July 2013 15:27 (ten years ago) link
"Last Time" = bonus track title btw
I mean, I do really like this and I imagine once I've spent more time with it I'll be able to pick the two apart, but so far this just feels like the tempos are generally lower.
Modeselektor are generally a bit ignored these days aren't they? I loved their first two albums at the time but I'm scared what I'll discover when I listen back.
― boxedjoy, Tuesday, 30 July 2013 22:00 (ten years ago) link
Modeselektor stands up IMO

just in case there are a few of you hoping to catch the tour :
On Saturday afternoon (07.09.2013) Sascha Ring, member of the band Moderat had a motorcycle accident in Berlin. We are happy to announce that given the circumstances, Sascha and his girlfriend - who was with him at the time - are doing well.
However, Sascha has sustained a complicated multiple leg fracture that is likely to impede his mobility greatly in the coming weeks.
To ensure Sascha’s full recovery we will have to postpone all upcoming Moderat tour dates until January 2014
― mark e, Tuesday, 10 September 2013 17:26 (ten years ago) link
I hope they mean a multiple fracture on one leg and not both legs!
― is space noise (mh), Tuesday, 10 September 2013 17:29 (ten years ago) link
‘Bad Kingdom’, the first vocal-led track, begins with electro bass-stabs (SBTRKT comes to mind) before morphing into the kind of cloying post-rave pop that riddled the early ’90s (think The Beloved’s ‘Sweet Harmony’) – all leisurely breakbeats, church-y synths, angelic choirs and falsetto vocals.
Haha, he just described like half my favourite tunes from the early 90s. There's something wrong with anyone who doesn't like the combination of leisurely breakbeats and church-y synths.

III
Coinciding with a Spring 2016 tour Moderat return with their new album III:Release Date: April 1, 2016Intent on creating something that contrasted their own individual projects, Moderat ‑ the trio comprised of Gernot Bronsert, Sebastian Szary (aka Modeselektor) and Sascha Ring (aka Apparat) ‑ complete the trilogy with III.III pairs an emotional pull with sensual imagery, creating dynamic sound and depth with sophisticated lyrics and themes as they direct their gaze inward.Apparat gives unfiltered insight into his personal take on the journey we call life ‑ he is opening up, discussing his shadow, his fears and doubts.Modeselektor reach another level, develop an intoxicating energy with their distinct rhythmical textures. One of the best parts of Moderat is their use of electronics to achieve orchestral diversity. With III, they update the songwriting tradition with an intriguing palette, born of careful attention and skill, informed by their experiences with sounds of nearly 25 years of sub‑and‑club culture. These three were initially brought together by Berlin's now legendary rave scene and with this as their common foundation as individuals, III signifies Moderat's maturation in modern pop and mastery of the group.Moderat's III is out April 1, 2016 on Monkeytown Records. The trio will take their impressive live show all over Europe and North America in support of this release.MODERAT III IS READY FOR PRE-ORDER NOW!
