anatol_merklich, Friday, 28 November 2008 07:10 (fifteen years ago) link

The gap in Anna Paquin's Teeth (glynn), Friday, 28 November 2008 08:32 (fifteen years ago) link

59 = Spacmen 3.

The Most Photographed Barn on the Internet (Pillbox), Friday, 28 November 2008 08:48 (fifteen years ago) link

I'm probably wrong, but 86 really looks like Brainticket to me.

emil.y, Friday, 28 November 2008 08:50 (fifteen years ago) link

Ah, but 86b probably scuppers that, as I have no idea what that could be.

emil.y, Friday, 28 November 2008 08:51 (fifteen years ago) link

82=Pistols, yes.

Geir Hongro, Friday, 28 November 2008 10:39 (fifteen years ago) link

sorry if thats a bit off-puttingly big

MaresNest, Friday, 28 November 2008 14:09 (fifteen years ago) link

88 is Wire's first three albums, yep.

Richard C, Friday, 28 November 2008 15:29 (fifteen years ago) link

This might be very easy, but they're probably all very easy to the person who did them. And you might have forgotten #4 existed anyway.

Is 94 Ride perchance?

MaresNest, Friday, 28 November 2008 16:04 (fifteen years ago) link

It is indeed!

..··¨ rush ~°~ push ~°~ ca$h ¨··.. (a passing spacecadet), Friday, 28 November 2008 16:06 (fifteen years ago) link

Weird when you find one which REALLY reminds you of an album cover which you know isn't the right answer, so you stick that album through the grinder, and none of the results resemble the original pic. I got that with these two (not same artist) (might do the actual artists, but one is maybe unsportingly obscure, and the other this is the only album art of theirs I could even recall, so...):

(this is not a discography/question, just demonstrations of above, taken from previous questions)

Number two puts me in mind of In On The Killtaker by Fugazi

MaresNest, Friday, 28 November 2008 16:15 (fifteen years ago) link

91 is mclusky is it not?

yup

Maciej (maciej recognizing trill), Friday, 28 November 2008 16:22 (fifteen years ago) link

(xpost)

Yeah, sorry, it was from Hurting's Fugazi q, number 27. But it made me think of this Polvo album:
http://www.southern.com/southern/band/POLVO/pics/19114.jpg

Not even sure so much why, now. (Thought the other was Black Dog - Spanners, and that one's not answered - number 84 - but given that Geir posted it and I don't recognise the others, it's not really going to be...)

..··¨ rush ~°~ push ~°~ ca$h ¨··.. (a passing spacecadet), Friday, 28 November 2008 16:24 (fifteen years ago) link

wtf, how can it be one or the other of those two, they're completely different!

I know, right?, Friday, 28 November 2008 20:12 (fifteen years ago) link

Well, I don't know, T; you'll just have to make like Summer Sanders and FIGURE IT OUT

Nomi Malone and Her Bloodstains (Stevie D), Friday, 28 November 2008 20:13 (fifteen years ago) link

I'm probably wrong, but 86 really looks like Brainticket to me.

― emil.y, Friday, 28 November 2008 08:51 (14 hours ago)

86 is not Brainticket

85 should be easy though.

daavid, Friday, 28 November 2008 22:57 (fifteen years ago) link

LOVE the (x or y) thing myself; UK vs US issues (e.g.) kept me from doing a couple, and this is obv The Way Forward.

xpost I'm sorry Daavid, claiming something is easy is not enough to make it so. :p :p

non-xpost: erm yes drunX0r :D

anatol_merklich, Friday, 28 November 2008 23:00 (fifteen years ago) link

59 = Spacmen 3.

Yes!

Chris Barrus (Elvis Telecom), Friday, 28 November 2008 23:09 (fifteen years ago) link

I know, I just thought it would be. But of course, since I posted it, I'm not very good judge.

daavid, Friday, 28 November 2008 23:11 (fifteen years ago) link

One hint:
77 is an 80s band. Those albums have been unavailable on CD for a while, but are now available.

Geir Hongro, Friday, 28 November 2008 23:23 (fifteen years ago) link

HOW DID I NOT GET S3

ps mine is 95 i guess

Nomi Malone and Her Bloodstains (Stevie D), Saturday, 29 November 2008 01:42 (fifteen years ago) link

These things are like magic eye puzzles for me. I can't figure them out at all, but as soon as one's guessed, I'm like Oh yeah!

Can't really do these either. Hoping for another softball when nobody else is around. But it is a great thread idea and good mental exercise.

Ruudside Picnic (James Redd and the Blecchs), Saturday, 29 November 2008 02:16 (fifteen years ago) link

Okay, so apparently I can't actually stop making these.

Yeah, sorry, it was from Hurting's Fugazi q, number 27. But it made me think of this Polvo album:

Aha! That's exactly the album I was thinking of when I said that image reminded me of something else. I had a feeling the band was on Merge and/or started with a P, but dumbly I looked up the Portastatic discography instead.

staggerlee, Saturday, 29 November 2008 19:34 (fifteen years ago) link

hint for 99: you should be able to get it from the first 4. #5 and #6 are the worst approximations.

abanana, Saturday, 29 November 2008 23:04 (fifteen years ago) link

These last few seem tantalisingly familiar, and yet...

A hint for #90: the now defunct band hailed from somewhere other than the UK or US, and looking again now, parts 7 and 9 are actually very close to the original covers.

103. and to help everyone along, their similarly vibrant label-mates:

102 is Can

Nomi Malone and Her Bloodstains (Stevie D), Sunday, 30 November 2008 00:50 (fifteen years ago) link

Correct sir! I'm still amused by that "Monster Movie".

Nag! Nag! Nag!, Sunday, 30 November 2008 00:59 (fifteen years ago) link

Hint for 96: #2 is the closest one. The artist has made records under different names which I didn't include.
