It will hopefully be "regular", to borrow a grandmother's toilet phrase.

Boogie Fever: http://boogiefever.blogspot.com/. It's a big ripoff of Popular (http://www.freakytrigger.co.uk/popular.html) and American Hot Wax (http://epicharmus.com/loatd.htm).

I want a new blog... one that won't make me -- oh, wait. I have one. It's tautological: www.philipsherburne.com. Now with pitchers!

I still think mine's got the best name, even if the content's a load of arse. There's something about the nice assonance that I like.

Inspired by the fantastic fluxblog, I've started a similar site. I don't have as many new music connections, so it's going to focus more on overlooked items from the past. This week features the Dustdevils who should be of interest to fans of Sonic Youth (as well as to people who want to know what Mark Ibold was up to before he joined Pavement). Once I get more comfortable with all the technology, I'll be featuring a lot of vinyl only releases. It's at www.mysticalbeast.blogspot.com.

There's no reason why any of you should want to read shoelaces because it's a mate-blog really, but it does have occasional reviews of cantonese hip hop on it...

DJ Martian's Page >>> http://djmartian.blogspot.com
I have developed a music blogs tracking list:
http://blo.gs/3600/favorites.html
powered by http://blo.gs/
This is updated 24/7 with the most recent blogs that are updated listed at the top.

There are some other blogs I would like to add to this tracking list, but they don't currently comply with the system.

Respect to Alex @ Close Your Eyes
http://musik.antville.org/
who also has a blog tracking list >>

thank you martin for the thumbs-up. i really cannot understand that so few people use dynamic blogrolls like freshblogs (does not accept any new blogs for the moment but is the most comprehensive) or blo.gs or blogrolling (which is the most popular though it seems to have the fewest blogs with timestamps in the database).

i just looked through it again and realised there's actually fuck all about music on it!
i did intend to cover things other than music,(books, art, films, etc),which i have done, but i was planning on writing a fair bit about music as well...
i'll have to rectify that as soon as possible...

Me too. So here it is again:

http://www.espressowerk.blogspot.com

The banner was advertising techno and DJ equipment for many months but I subverted the whole process by writing a few entries on relatively obscure early twentieth century Viennese intellectuals Weininger and Krause. The banner briefly switched to providing some philosophy search suggestions, then gave up and became a blank space brought to me by google. I am very proud of myself. I feel as if I have beaten the system.

Enthusiastic But Mediocre is where I rant a bit craply about pop, pop and more pop. I'm currently on a mission to find out which European chart has the most magnificent pop in it, and if anyone knows how to download songs with Greek or Russian letters in their titles on slsk, I will love you forever.

My site has been nominated for Best Music Weblog in the 2004 Bloggies.

It's up against Moby.com. You know what to do - vote for someone that isn't me or Moby.

James Mitchell (James Mitchell), Monday, 19 January 2004 19:49 (twenty years ago) link

My site LEETV isn't a Blog but allow me to plug it anyway. Pop Heaven is the section where I "do" music.

LondonLee (LondonLee), Monday, 19 January 2004 20:07 (twenty years ago) link

They totally dropped the ball on the music blog category - a lot of the best music blogs made it to the top 20, but the final 5 nominees leave something to be desired. I'm not really talking about Cha Cha Cha or Chromewaves - those are fine, but more about Moby (which isn't a fucking music blog!) and 75 Or Less (which is more of a webzine). Lameness. NYPLM in particular wuz ROBBED.

Matthew Perpetua (Matthew Perpetua), Monday, 19 January 2004 20:16 (twenty years ago) link

I have absolutelu no idea how I ended up nominated. I think it's because Tom Coates of plasticbag.org wrote about who to vote for on his website and included me as one of his favourites.

James Mitchell (James Mitchell), Monday, 19 January 2004 20:23 (twenty years ago) link

It probably was Tom's doing, James. I guess he has a lot of power in these things.

I figure, well, this Bloggies thing is mostly for a lot of folks who are primarily political/tech/personal blog fans, right? So of course the really hardcore music blogs get shafted, because the majority of voters don't read them and they go for who they know.

Matthew Perpetua (Matthew Perpetua), Monday, 19 January 2004 20:41 (twenty years ago) link

Cleary Ms. Maura Johnston, Esq. needs to work her connections within the 3133+ blogger cabal in order to secure NYLPM its props within the community. That, & Tom shd schedule more Meet 'n' Greets. & serve some shrimp next time, for the luvva.

Is U2log nominated again? I'm deathly curious, yet not curious enough to click on the Bloggie linkie.

David R. (popshots75`), Monday, 19 January 2004 20:42 (twenty years ago) link

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Monday, 19 January 2004 20:54 (twenty years ago) link

I've nominated "xrrf" two years in a row now, and it's been shafted both times. Bloggies = dumb.

Johnny Fever (johnny fever), Monday, 19 January 2004 21:33 (twenty years ago) link

I nominated NYLPM and XRRF and what happened? I ended up on the shortlist.

James Mitchell (James Mitchell), Tuesday, 20 January 2004 15:08 (twenty years ago) link

NYLPM was on the shortlist once or twice when these things started. It wasn't exactly overflowing with updates around the nominations time though. When we were first nominated (2000 or so) we were easily the best music weblog in the world (U2log won obv) but nowadays we're a lot lazier and there's a lot more competition - thanks if you did nominate us though.
