this is good but idk it doesn't feel like a big t.i. single with swizzy screaming all over it. also t.i. is just as good if not a better hook singer than swizz. verses are tight tho esp the beat.
― J0rdan S., Wednesday, 16 July 2008 07:52 (fifteen years ago) link
ie the hook on "what's up what's happening" even though that sounds like it was produced by jr rotem unless i am misplacing the annoying sound effect
― J0rdan S., Wednesday, 16 July 2008 07:57 (fifteen years ago) link
ok the mtv news article says dumma boy which i guess there could be worse things
― J0rdan S., Wednesday, 16 July 2008 07:59 (fifteen years ago) link
ok yes i was thinking the annoying sound effect in "whats up what's happening" is the same as the annoying sound effect in "the boss" when in fact it is the same annoying sound effect as the one in "put on"

also i know dude's gotta rep and shit but there isn't a genuine hit here (maybe "my drink n my 2 step" but i dont think t.i. is trying to top out at #33 on the hot 100):
2007: "Get Me Bodied" (Beyoncé) 2007: "Set It Off" (N.O.R.E. featuring J. Ru$$ & Swizz Beatz) 2007: "It's Me Bitches" (Swizz Beatz) 2007: "Tambourine" (Eve) 2007: "Money in the Bank" (Swizz Beatz) 2007: "Top Down" (Swizz Beatz) 2007: "My Drink N My 2 Step" (Cassidy featuring Swizz Beatz) 2007: "Blow Ya Mind" (Styles P. featuring Swizz Beatz) 2007: "Give It to You" (Eve featuring Sean Paul) 2008: "Shake It" (Bow Wow featuring Swizz Beatz) 2008: "Get Down"(G-Unit) 2008: "Swing Ya Rag" (T.I. featuring Swizz Beatz)

ehh gotta remember, "Bring Em Out" is still one of his biggest singles (I don't think I realized how much it was his introduction to herbs who don't listen to much rap until Byron Crawford said it was the first T.I. song he ever heard). can't blame him for trying to recreate that. anyway I only even heard that song for the first time like a week ago and don't know how much I like it yet, but I think it's a little early to be making those kinda predictions. all I know is every indication so far is that this album will be better than T.I. Vs T.I.P.

I liked Prodigy, Sheek Louch, a few album-ish mixtapes (Rich Boy, Young Dro, Boosie, Fabolous, etc.), Byrd Gang was surprisingly decent...people seem to like the Bun B but I kinda hate it.
big xpost

the Fat Joe album really sucked, and I say that as someone that reps for Me Myself & I and Loyalty big time.

i'll check the rich boy and fabolous mixtapes
'me myself and i' was near perfect
― deej, Friday, 18 July 2008 15:59 (fifteen years ago) link
all the shit im most excited about this year are mixtapes
holding out for a really really good album from jeezy
dunno how bun is "disappointing"
― J0rdan S., Friday, 18 July 2008 16:00 (fifteen years ago) link
it sounds very by the numbers and rote to me, Bun kicking the same 2 or 3 flows over and over with mostly shitty beats/hooks/guests. kinda ridiculous how it's the highest rated rap album on metacritic this year (Underground Kingz wasn't even ON metacritic to compare to).
― some dude, Friday, 18 July 2008 16:05 (fifteen years ago) link
yeah idk a rote by the numbers album is pretty much what i expected, i don't think bun's been doing anything really mindblowing in the past year or so. that said i do i think it turned out to be pretty good and listenable (if only cuz mostly all the guests go in) and it's not something ill be listening to in 6 or 7 months probably but if im bored now its pretty good to throw on.

the lolx
― deej, Friday, 18 July 2008 16:25 (fifteen years ago) link
i like the lox, i just have trouble listening to a sheek louch solo LP
he hasn't really improved but it's like the best possible Sheek Louch album, lotta bangers and goofy hooks, succeeds at the generic NY Koch rap album thing where Fat Joe fails
