Maybe Mark G has written one. Otherwise, I think the mother of all Marissa threads has been deleted in a fit of mod rage.

Anyway, Act 1: Marissa struggling musician started sellling her CDs for thousands of bucks on her website, arguing that just like any piece of art, she alone could decide how much she would sell her stuff. Internet frenzy and sarcasm incurs.

act 2: Marissa starts posting on ILX. ILXors debate as to how the handle the situation, either by humoring her or by trying not to encourage the whole situation.

Act 3. Marissa announces that she has changed her name and "is gone of the net" because of us. For a while, she reappears using various names and launching attack threads against Bela Fleck and various obscure session musos.

Act 4: Marissa is perma-banned and disappears for nearly a year

Act 5: 2007 -a Nu-era: the phoenix is reborn

hi,
this is marissa again. those damned fascists banned me....
i guess i wasn't polically correct in my statements...
I am not against people that are good musicians..
i just don't think they should be promoted as major stars...

I think the anti-intellectual agenda that has been going on has going been going on for a long time.

I like intellectualism...
I am sure most people would like to be challenged and not thought upon as dummies.

Nor do they want things on a low level...
I am under a band name...and doing quite well, but have to finish school...right now I am busy with schoolwork in front of me..and about to finish my guitar tracks..
you would be amazed at how my recordings sound..that is why it is taking so long...
it doesn't sound anything like two years ago.
I am determinded to become famous and inspire people ...
but not for the sake of being famous, but to inspire people and bring joy to people's lives.
I will become famous

I will become famous, with or without this board...or anyone involved in the commerical world..
My music is noticably high level at this point and the arrangement..and production..

this time it is being professionally mastered...

but it sounds nothing like my raw demos..I polished everything...including timing...
anything that was incorrect ...I redid....
I am almost done with 17 tracks...
I am sooooo busy....

I have alot of love in my heart and this love is something I need to share...
I am focused more on supporting talented people that I respect, then insulting people I don't respect .....
that is my basic personality.

I feel these people are a waste..and not worth insulting when people who are more gifted and nicer people exist..on the net..........
duncan sheik and his friends are very supportive of Johanna Newsome and would love my site so Kacie sheik and his friends can insult me and my friends via the net....
my friends are all intellectual and real artists.

unlike what you think...my life is not on the net....
you live your life evaluating people on the net and blogs..that you don't know where written by the actual person..
I live in the real world...

My world and life doesn't revolve around the net....

this little board and this comments on the net are not important to my real life.

I don't care about being harassed on the net...or the snide and insulting comments....

But I am such a positive person ...especially about music...that these insulting comments are only getting off the subject that I am very talented.

and yes, I don't like Bela Fleck and I don't like anyone from the commerical world...or any commerical want to be's....he is not someone I hate more then all the others...

I don't think he is a genuine person who is a truly humble or giving person.

He is like all the others...
I don't like ingenuine people who are only out for money and who have no real aesthetic interests..

Music is NOT a business .....for those people who view music as a business...
you will never be respected by many people.

What do you think about the ILM 'various artists' compilation?

The deal is, each person contributes one track, and gets a copy of the CD with everyones tracks on it.

You may find it interesting...

there is nothing wrong with commericalism if it promotes quality and things that inspire people and things that bring joy to people's lives...
when it fails to do this...then it is wrong to want to be famous, just to be hip cool and rich...
I want to be famous for the right reasons...

My music is beautiful.
if it sounds bad, I do it over...
and over again, untill it is pleasing and something is very high quality...

If I had no talent, I would not try to be famous.....
like so many people, who's only goal is to be famous...

I want to inspire many people with high standards....and bring beauty and life into the world...
music is so uplifting..and so inspiring...It can be...
it is very important to our culture...

But you realize that when you become famous you will be commercial. Having a large boundary-crossing audience (which is quite an admirable goal!) is very nearly what it means to be commercial. I'm not engaging in any "stick-poking" here, friends, I'm trying to understand exactly what Marissa means.

OK, folks, I have one last message from herself, she asked me to pass this on. This was in response to a request for a track for the ILX Vol 3 compilation. So, I guess this is the final closure so for one last time, go 'head Ms M.

I appreciate the interest mark....but this evil board is filled with neysayers...such as people claiming that they know I am messed up from googling me....

This Joachim guy worked for the entertainment industry, and was snotty the day I met him, acting as if I am beneathe him and he is still doing this on the net....
He is very arrogant and always looking for something wrong with me...
he has harassed my phone in real life and not a nice man..so it seems.
Please let them know, someone was posing as the real me on the net and I have never been interested in Bela Fleck and never thought he was interested in me...and never wanted him to be...
My life is not a mess....
i have not been on the net insulting people for two years...
or trying not..I have focused on people that i enjoy...and music that I enjoy and spending my time encouring people...
I am very upbeat about my life...and not in need of help...
I go to school...and graduating in a few months and have excesssive goals and work to do....
I couldn't be that messed up...singing live ...which I am doing...
going to school..and finishing my recordings...
let them find another scapegoat...
I am highly productive and don't have time for this board...
at all....this morning, I am waiting for important mail...I am receiving a new computer...
life is a struggling, but doing well...hope you are all productive and enjoying the many talented people on the net...who are obscure of from different cultures...
you have to spend time looking and not just punching in pop/rock...
