Biber - Violin Sontata, Romanesca

read this as bieber and was confused for several seconds

my spelling on this forum is usually pretty lax but getting to Sontata from Sonatas is pretty bad even for me

really getting into Biber. Tony Conrad kept mentioning the scordatura tuning in the Mystery Sonatas as a primary influence on his playing in the Theatre of Eternal Music / 'Four Violins', so that was my in -- then I learned the Violin Sonatas incorporate birdsong and now I'm double hooked, the Sonatas have some shockingly dissonant moments

hahaha! no, i haven't been listening to all that much human league. but i have been listening to a lot of early '80s stuff as of late, mostly conny plank productions. my housemate is amanda palmer--she has a serious career going for her, and i'm glad she's at home writing new material instead of doing the treadmill-to-hell tour schedule (though that will begin again in the fall...)

okay i had too google her but now i know who she is. and i remember that group she was in. she is big with the kids! and wiki says she went to the same college as my beloved maria.

Hey J, I haven't fully digested the Vladislav Delay Quartet, to be honest. I'm very attracted to its textures, but it's a fairly dense and forbidding listen... Not as immediately beguiling as the Moritz von Oswald Trio record (and it's not as if I expected it to be ultra-similar to that album, but comparisons are inevitable I think), but more going on.

(one of those cases where i have to think very carefully about what i say about this record, because it will be the only recorded opinion on the internet. maybe. i don't actually look THAT hard for things. but, hey, it doesn't have a discogs entry or anything and no blogs care about it. i dig the house mix of this on here. way better than buster poindexter at any rate. and the dance mix is 8 minutes of goodness. i would totally play the dance mix for the salsa house crowd. wherever they are. i think they're in springfield.)

bliss - fun (wmot - 1981)

(now THIS is a boogie single you might want for more then five bucks. cuz it rules. bonus points if you get a copy on the rap city label.)

(so great. yet another record that people won't be able to buy in my store cuz i love it too much. not that it really matters cuz i could probably put it in my dollar bin and it would sit there for a million years cuz people are lame. freestyle heaven. just wish the dub version was 20 minutes long instead of 4 minutes long. i'm so fucking greedy.)

(this is a really strange single. just a weird vibe with all the stops and starts. its almost like its always just getting started for the length of the song! this is for boris midney completists. b-side "i feel delight" is just as strange. production is strange. so, if you like strange dance singles...)

(the deeper into the 90's you go, the less i dig masters at work-related stuff. hate to admit it. even the bostich sample doesn't move me. just listening to a todd terry single with yet another bostich sample and it hit a lot harder.)
