"Broken Wings" and "Kyrie" are both fantastic songs. Calling "broken Wings" a Jesus-freak anthem should probably make you rethink your grasp of the English language.
The tin-eared reactionaryism of ILMers who regularly got their books dumped in junior high appears to be on the rise again!

Actually, (aside from confusing them with the Hooters), I have surprisingly pleasant memories of "Kyrie" and "Broken Wings", considering that they were released around late '85/early '86 - a particularly lousy period for radio (at least in my opinion.)

I despise Cutting Crew's "(I Just Died) In Your Arms Tonight," but their other hit "I've Been in Love Before" has that airy, synthy "Your Wildest Dreams"
Let's call this genre poof-rock (billowy synths, guitar wankery, HUGE mullets). I'm curious as to why the U.S. marketplace was vulnerable to such a hostile takeover. Mr Mister, Glass Tiger, and CC, Heart, Starship, Richard Marx. Anything else.

I can't remember how Kyrie goes without mentally hearing it segue into Breakout by Swing Out Sister due to a 20 year old tv ad for a 'hits of the 80s' compilation that featured brief clips of both songs next to each other (Kyrie eleison, down the road that I must travel - BREAKOUT!)

Yes, but there are so many session dudes, with session chops, why Pat Mastelotto?
I am probably just jealous, anyway I don't want to derail this thread with prog-talk, though I do feel like I need to mention that in April, Adrian Belew, Tony Levin, and the drummer from Mr Mister will be hosting "Three of a Perfect Pair Music Camp", details can be found at www.threeofaperfectpair.com
How much money would YOU spend to go camping for a week with Pat Mastelotto? (If you answered one or two thousand dollars you are correct)

Why not Pat Mastelotto? He's a great drummer with an open mind, which is why you can find him on Mr. Mister records and XTC records, or The Rembrandts and King Crimson.

My middle school music teacher used "Broken Wings" to teach us about composition. We had to listen to it multiple times and map out the structure of the song and everything. It seemed insane to me even at the time, he had Coltrane and Beatles posters in his classroom but somehow thought "Broken Wings" was some perfect songwriting template. It's teachable, I guess.

This thread made me cry laughing.
Reason for revive: up until this year, this holiday season, I'd never heard "Kyrie." Now, I hear it whenever I go into almost any retail outlet, which isn't too often given the pandemic. Is anyone else experiencing this? Is this just the weird mid-Atlantic pocket of the east coast US where this is happening?
