what artist, if any, is worth doing an ILM tracks poll?

i would get involved in maybe half of these. elvis costello would be fun tbh. but the key is def to just spread em out and not have them on top of each other.

Putting aside personal feelings, and cutting slack for "Well, I don't know their music at all, but I suppose they have a devoted following," the two names on that list where I must be completely out to lunch are the Boredoms and the Boo Radleys.

really think AC/DC should have a trax poll. I mean this is one rock band where fans get uber excited over individual songs and the range of opinion is so varied.

Anyway, the one where I'd have the most to say would be a Neil Young poll (especially as I have a few eccentric favourites).

i don't think the range of opinion is THAT varied -- they're a very popular singles band and there'd be a small minority championing albums tracks, but mostly it would just be a mildly unpredictable battle of Bon Scott era vs. Back In Black

"I love Polls" should be a separate board.

Don't know who first asked for it anyway or felt the function was needed but as overnight changes go it's been pretty effective at turning 1/3 of the board to shit overnight and lowering the quality here in general. I don't post much but visit & lurk from various places, having to login to hide them is tedium.

as the person who started this thread i would like to state for the record that this thread is specifically about organized polls with e-mailed ballots and big results reveal threads -- i have no problem in principle with the automated poll threads we already have and in fact would encourage people to just use those instead

Kind of ironic considering AC/DC is one out of very few acts refusing to give fans access to their hits/single tracks. Absolute no, no to all kinds of digital sales/streaming, and no "Best Of"/"Greatest Hits" consisting of original studio versions yet either.

i really fail to grasp why one of these irks you so much and the other doesn't. is it the use of OMG ALL CAPS BIG POLL RESULTS REVEAL THREAD TITLE IN ALL CAPS that bothers you?

i think it was cuz the complainer can't automatically "Hide Polls" for the non-automated polls

which means he'll have to scroll, which is hella difficult and annoying amirite

that is a fair point i guess not although would be suprised if many people use that option, seems kinda sledgehammer. anyway so make the organised email poll threads normal (fake) poll threads maybe idk.

personally I've never once participates in one of the manual polls but I really enjoy reading them. and on the rare occasion I don't know anything about the artist in question or don't care, I had the dudes at my laptop factory install this fancy 'trackpad' thing where I can actually move away from the thread in question

vu is one of my favorite groups but not enough songs to make a poll interesting, imo. same w/stevie and a bunch of others. neptunes and timbaland would be ehhhhh... i could throw a top 10 together but top 22?

i'm not saying that stevie et al don't have a lot of good songs, i'm saying that it's boring to poll an artist when everyone agrees that EVERY song an artist has done is indisputable awesome.

I'd been toying with doing a Suede poll to tie-in with the reissues, but nbs beat me to it with the blur one. I'd've thought a dozen would be a big enough ballot for them, and no need to run down the top 100 either - 20 or 30 will be fine. Depends on the band and especially level of participation though.

I think it would be legit to adjust the numbers for a smaller discography. Personally I wouldn't have a problem having a 30-spot ballot for VU. xxpost

Where did the notion of a 22-entry ballot come from, anyway?
