Whoa! So, who had that idea (of doing a psych album) first, Muddy Waters or Wolf??
Neither one - both were producer Marshall Chess' ideas - but Muddy's Electric Mud came first, and then Wolf's LP followed close behind. (And Muddy had a second psychedelic album, After The Rain.)

As big as his catalogue is, you think we'd get to EVERYTHING?
Although I gotta big-up a track I haven't seen yet - "I'll Be Around," or as the Wolf sings it, "I'll Be Arouuuuuuuund"...

are there any wolf records with that tight lineup he plays with on the newport dvd? he's got sam jones on sax, but he's playing it uhh staccato? i guess, all short notes. i know he played with those guys a lot, but it seems like a different sound live. i haven't seen the film in forever (bukka white's awesome in it too, and son house is pretty miserable) but it comes back to me a lot. sax-centric wolf recommendations appreciated.

Great grandchildren due for big royalties from The Wolf of Wall Street. (Will have to share them with the Lemonheads and Plastic Bertrand.)

Actually you are right. What I read was about a somewhat surprising influence on his style.

Read that he started out trying to imitate Jimmie Rodgers but "I couldn't do no yodelin' so I turned to howlin'. And it's done me just fine."
