i think i'm lost lex and maybe i missed your point. saying "punk sucked" isn't dead end?

punk is massively more important for how it changed the way ppl approached music than it is for the perceived quality of the music it produced, so dismissing it with "punk sucked" doesn't actually work if you want to have a serious conversation

lex, k's voice occasionally lacks the "grating"ness esp in her ballads, though her ballads are typically her worst ones. her voice is actually v versatile (even without autotune!) and she has some impressive range.

do her vox in "animal" bother you? they're pretty pretty, very clean, and the song is fantastic

also "c u next tuesday" is as vocally non-grating as it gets tho the song as a whole isn't v good. "the harold song" is her best ballad (one of her best songs imo) but the chorus gets screamy. the verses are still wonderful and make me tear up. i'm trying to find a good comparison to what her voice sounds like/what she does with it when she gets softer, but all i can think of is "celtic." i know there's a point of reference somewhere but it's not coming to me.

would be remiss to forget "stephen" if we're talking about clean vox, but i know you hate the autotune.

It's not terrible, it's okay. Just seems like rehashed Kesha on autopilot, though.

if you stay away for that long and come back with something that boring as your lead single, the bar is raised to the point that mediocre is terrible

yeah, this song is just okay. i can't help but think that black sabbath with dio have already mastered a "die young" song

this just sounds like another Dr. Luke track. was Dr. Luke involved with "Good Feeling"? it sounds like that. somewhat surprising that lack of prominent autotune neither works for or against it.

Kind of reminds me of Starships, which is probably the only song of the last year or so that will get more play at DC gay places than this.

Heard the new one for the first time on the radio today right after that awful Owl City/CRJ song. It started off sounding basically exactly the same, and then there was a chorus about dying young and I was like whaaa and then I realized it was Ke$ha and it was almost like an antidote to the song I had just heard. I like it.

i don't expect a sophomore album's lead single to a pop album to ever break new ground, though this doesn't sound quite like her other big leads

luke and co seem totally uninspired tho with that dance breakdown. love the verses, reminds me of fall out boy in a way

I think the chorus is pretty good. The verses sound like "Starships" and "Wild Ones".

i really, really like "die young"

when "Teenage Dream" came out I thought the "dance until we die" bit could've made a good refrain for a song on its own, but I didn't think it actually would be recycled on another Dr. Luke track years later

"c'mon" is pretty great

yeah, it's all pretty great? disappointed in the lyrics changes in the final version of the song with the strokes but that's some a++ indiebro trolling.

lot more mixing up her K$ party side and the 'animal'-type stuff within songs, but overall it's a pretty solid album, i think.

much better than i expected after 'die young' (which has already grown on me, so, you know)

i think people are afraid to admit to like ke$ha for some reason, she is less respectable than other pop stars. but Warrior is really solid. c'mon, especially, is pretty awesome. it captures adolescent "yearning" much better than any of the katy perry songs that, i think, go for a similar effect. the problem is that every ke$ha song has at least a few especially dumb lyrics that don't succeed in being charming. good thing i am able to zone out and not hear the lyrics pretty easily...

i love c'mon (set me free ke$ha) but most of warrior was really disappointing for me. "gold trans am"'s fun. loved all the stuff on the debut/ep about being poor: "we take the drinks from the tables when you get up and leave em", etc.. loved the b-side about wanting to fuck her history teacher.

taylor swift's ke$ha isn't as fun as her paramore.

"Gold Trans Am" is the only I kept.

"this song makes me want to have sex in my car"... gold trans am is classic. and yeah, i mean, obviously the album is dodgy and inconsistent. i have a bad habit of declaring an album "good" or "solid" if it has more than three songs i like on it, which leads to confusion sometimes.

Her music sounds like Uffie for people who shop at Walmart.
