my take on tribute shows is they're classic

my take on oldies shows is they're often great, half the time the act is considerably tighter than they were in their prime

so if this is relatively cheap enough and you got not much else to do i say go for it, astbury has the pipes for it to be reasonable

i thought they were ordered to stop touring or something just a few weeks ago

nah, they were ordered to stop using the word Doors in their name.

i was a fan in high school, i still like their first album, but mainly i would go because i just wanna see what its like, you know? when they sing the end, does Ian scream mother i want to fuck you? and what would the reaction from the crowd?

im very curious

a phoned-in pink floyd performance like live 8 is still >>>>>>>>>> than most shit-hot young acts who barely have it together on stage.

Personally, I wouldn't go, but that's just because there will be a complete lack of John Densmore, whose drumming is 99.9% of what I like about "The Doors".

three years pass...

From: http://www.mojo4music.com/blog/2008/08/news_digest_friday_august_22.html

Ray Manzerek and Robbie Krieger have lost a court appeal to continue touring as The Doors Of The 21st Century.

Original drummer John Densmore has long insisted that without Jim Morrison a official band reunion can ever take place and therefore The Doors name should not be taken out on the road. Manzarek and Krieger fought Densmore's injunction, but the Los Angeles Superior Court has now upheld the decision. The pair will now have to continue playing under the name, Riders on The Storm.
