RICK ROSS WRITES HIS OWN SONGS
― i think i'm big screech...sheldon cooper (Neanderthal), Sunday, 8 January 2012 04:34 (twelve years ago) link
Rick Ross is enjoyable the same way Dr Dre was circa 2001.
there's also a similarity in the importance of economy & hugeness
― somebody call the brinks truck (D-40), Sunday, 8 January 2012 04:35 (twelve years ago) link
not saying hes better cuz dr dre in that era holds a special place in rap memory for me, but i dont doubt that kids today feel the same way abt Ross
neanderthal i think you have posted more about meshell than i have this year, but you can definitely shove your ad hominem nonsense up your cunt. quit addressing me. don't even look at me. you're unattractive on the inside
― all i see is angels in my eyes (lex pretend), Sunday, 8 January 2012 04:36 (twelve years ago) link
I am beautiful, lex...no matter what you say
― i think i'm big screech...sheldon cooper (Neanderthal), Sunday, 8 January 2012 04:37 (twelve years ago) link
aero, you may also wanna check out blow, for da low and push it; all of which are ross at his less monosyllabic lowest common denominator modethat shit is working well for him at the moment so no surprise he's leaning heavier on it. I happen to like him a bit more when he's a bit campier and seems less serious about the pro wrestling schtick.
― Thug Luftwaffle (forksclovetofu), Sunday, 8 January 2012 04:37 (twelve years ago) link
so in seriousness, lex, you asked me what my prob with you is. it's not that you have opinions. it's that you spent many days hijacking the Drake thread bitching that people liked the album when you didn't and that they gave too much attention to it and that all of the people who liked it were clearly getting sucked in by the mainstream media (even though the track history of the goons hyping the album refuted that point).
now you're doing the same thing here. like aero doesn't like Rick Ross, but at least I respected his reasoning for it, your responses are all like LOL, HIGH STANDARDS MANG? anytime someone says why they like him. smug, baiting 'lol u like shit music' replies get old real real fast.

― all i see is angels in my eyes (lex pretend), Sunday, 8 January 2012 04:42 (twelve years ago) link
I've criticized deej several times. there was even a comment from last year where I said his posting style was like Jeff Gordon heading for the wall in a NASCAR race. xpost

also i've elucidated my problems with rawse far more than deej has with banks - none of her h8ers here have talked about her actual flow at all, it's all been "ew hipsters ew dance music"

her flow is terrible

i had a huge argument w/ people about the azealia track already & my criticisms included her rap style so idk what your problem is. she's only been brought up here b/c you tried to tell me she was better than rick ross which, lol

i honestly feel like there has never been a rapper as popular (at least a 'cool street rap guy' type star) as Rick Ross has never and will be really worshiped or respected by anybody, occasionally surprises people (i'll give him props for "Mafia Music") but doesn't really ever inspire awe or, like lex said, make songs anywhere approaching, say, "What You Know." like his whole career is just the culmination of rap fans' desire at the moment to a) rally around someone when he's 'hot' whoever it is b) prove they don't care that much about 'street cred' by embracing a hilarious fraud and c) enjoy the increasingly Wesley Willis-like comedy of listening to this fat moron talk about crab meats.

i royally fucked up the beginning of that, should read:
i honestly feel like there has never been a rapper as popular (at least a 'cool street rap guy' type star) as Rick Ross that has never and never will be really worshiped or respected by anybody etc.

Rick Ross fandom is the most baffling thing in the world to me. Who knew that hip-hop was yearning for its own version of Poison?
― Bam! Orgasm explosion in your facehole. (DJP), Sunday, 8 January 2012 17:01 (twelve years ago) link
haha i know right. i have a hard time imagining even like the most clueless middle school kid genuinely LOVING rick ross and his music the way you know millions feel or have felt about wayne or tip or jay etc. ross reaching this level of success as kind of a genial collaborates with everybody isn't better than any of them jolly fat man figure just cements how cynical this whole era of rap is.
― seasonal thug (some dude), Sunday, 8 January 2012 17:05 (twelve years ago) link
dude if the success of khaled didn't already tip you off to thathttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gEYUTR1p0jM

ross staying in the dj khaled posse cut rotation for 5 years straight until he was actually as popular as everyone else on those songs is very similar to the 'this week's frontrunner: herman cain/rick santorum/etc.' GOP race.
