Or perhaps just make one up anyway?

I'm guessing it's something like

SUM(Directly Matching Band * Your Plays * Neighbor's Plays) + SUM(Adjacent band * your plays * neighbor's plays * 0.5) + SUM(Two-degrees-away band * your plays * neighbor's plays * 0.25) + etc.

Too bad there's no BBCode for mathematical notation. :(

We've still got some bad data cached for users whose tasteometers you viewed in the past 24 hours; we should be clearing it out later today, but in the meantime you'll get new tasteometer scores for user pages you haven't seen in the past 24 hours and the old scores for those you have.

In summary: this should now be fixed, but the data will take a little time to propogate.

I've been on last.fm for years now and only just discovered the radio station thingy. It's awesome. Just discovered the Feelies, had never heard of them previously.

ok it seems to have just increased everyone's compatibility - people i was medium with are now very high, people i was high with are super &c - maybe in response to people complaining about how they were low with everyone?

yeah some sort of adjustment once in a while would be nice...i felt that my neighbors were very specifically neighboring one period of my music listening life, and i had moved on but my neighbors hadn't.

there's still some funkyness going on with neighbors...on my first page of neighbors, there's a bit of reaching with "Artists We Share". A few aren't anywhere in my top 500, one is literally in last place, and one is in 403rd place with 9 plays. But when I click on the people's names under the tasteometer it names some of my top bands we have in common.

I get the impression from a quick swatch at Ned's play count and top tracks/artists that his scrobbles aren't particularly representative of his general musical tastes, or of how much he actually listens to.

Which raises an intere ... er, a question. How obsessive are you about documenting your listening with last.fm? Me: absolutely and absurdly so. I get disproportionately pissed off if, say, I forget to scrobble plays from my iPod or phone, and would dearly love some kind of plugin for YouTube, MySpace etc so music I watch/listen to there is counted.
