Anyway, I was thinking of going to that Chicago show tonight but I've already been in that shithole (the Metro) once this week, and I realized I've only heard "House of Jealous Lovers" and I only really wanted to hang out for Tommie Sunshine's dj set afterwards anyway. Plus I have no $$.

there are no DFA tracks on the gogogo so obviously nearly every track on the rapture album blows the exittheuxa out of the water. taken on it's own terms, however, i think the gogogo album is great. they just lack a deadly-efficient dance moves. i have friends who claim "dancepunk" and like the rapture but think "beat connection" is just plain stupid; i'd probably recommend the gogogo album to those friends.

"Open Up Your Heart" still sucks, though.

i really feel like this album is one of the few hypehypehyped albums (wilco, interpol (never liked that one), etc) of the past few years thats survived some time for me.

The album's flawed but it's still pretty fabulous. From the new songs I've heard, the next one probably isn't going to be as good and they'll probably never come close to matching HOJL, but it'll still be a damn fun album.

Yes, BUT the DFA also did the Sub Pop EP and that sounds little like Echoes does.

gogogoairheart is fine, i take it adaml has an aversion to the search function (as do a few of the other Scots on ILX).

Me: Yeah, I use to play drums about ten years ago in Detroit--.
Dude: What was your band?
Me: I was in the Catfish. Not that alternative band, but an old school punk band. We never put out a record or played outside of the city.
Dude: That’s what I do, play drums.
Me: What’s your band?
Dude: The Rapture.
Me: No Really, what’s your band?
Me: You’re in The Rapture?
Dude: Yeah.
Me: Okay, be honest with me. How much do you hate “House of Jealous Lovers?”
Dude: No, I like that song.
Me: Come on, is there part of you that’s all, “Goddamn, this song again,” when you’re playing out?
Dude: No, no, I like playing that live. Like, I look forward to it.
