the eclectic thing ain't working for me.

The mainstream-o-meter is kind of fun just to see the range that it gives you for bands. Like Radiohead at 96.02% down to Lifter Puller at 0.37%. What's 100%? Some of the numbers are way off from what I'd expect, like Lil Wayne being lower than the Magnetic Fields and De La Soul.

Overall I'm at 20.65%

My score: 12.72 % mainstream

Acts in my top 50 range from Portishead @ 45.62 % to Muhsinah @ 0.17 %

lol @ Portishead being more "mainstream" than Kanye West or Stevie Wonder or Prince

okay, not half as lol as fucking Magnetic Fields more "mainstream" than Lil Wayne

Oh and possibly the fact I almost never scrobble from my PC anymore, the music's fed from another PC in the house and isnt on my account.

the mainstream-o-meter is hilarious because it takes its cues from the number of last.fm listeners which, being aspie central, are not at all representative of the general listener population. i think coldplay is probably @ 100% mainstreamness since they're the only band on last.fm with more listeners than radiohead.

Kerr we have been over this before. I'm not having it. When I look at it, it says Simply Red (to my horror, I mean I only like their first album and have never played it on last.fm) and then when I move my mouse on it it says Paint It Black but nothing happens when I click them.

That Mainstream-o-Meter just does not want to connect for me. I left it running for 10 minutes this morning; I've just fired it up again but really, it can suck 10 flavours of dick if it takes this long to give a result.

Also, given that it's a meaningless statistic based on an arbitrary notion, I can probably see it far enough.
