i only voted in the beatles thread. i regret not voting stones or paul simon (the latter of which i could've done a deeper cut ballot). i should do these more.

I still can't believe or understand that I missed the Beatles poll. Like...WTF. I barely vote in any of these because I never feel I know the discography well enough to be informed, but I live and breathe Beatles music, that would have bee so satisfying. Oh well.

Doctor Casino, Tuesday, 3 April 2012 03:55 (twelve years ago) link

Thinking about taking Ween at #49. Not a huge discography but oh the fun to be had.
It's actually pretty huge... They have just as many non-album tracks, if not more... I would be psyched as hell for this.

If this happens, "Where'd the Cheese Go?" will be my #1.

Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 4 April 2012 04:40 (twelve years ago) link

Ween top 3

When does Kinks voting open?

Johnny Fever, Thursday, 5 April 2012 21:26 (twelve years ago) link

I've never seen Je Suis Un Rock Star before. Fascinatingly bad and then this: "They'll think I'm your Dad...and you're my daughter"

Doh. Wrong thread.

I'm not sure how closely C. Grisso follows this thread or ILM New Answers, so I'll email him.

I'm fllwing this thread, been laid up in bed the past few days. When would be a good time to start?

Mike Love Costume Jewelry on Etsy (C. Grisso/McCain), Thursday, 5 April 2012 21:42 (twelve years ago) link

ha whoops, just emailed you before I refreshed this thread. I'd say anytime you're ready -- today, tomorrow, over the weekend, you name it.

improvised explosive advice (WmC), Thursday, 5 April 2012 21:48 (twelve years ago) link

No worries. I'll see about tomorrow. Was wondering if Good Friday would be problem if people have the day off.

Mike Love Costume Jewelry on Etsy (C. Grisso/McCain), Thursday, 5 April 2012 21:55 (twelve years ago) link

I'd imagine it would be constantly bumped by people who want to talk about The Kinks, so start date matters very little.

Johnny Fever, Thursday, 5 April 2012 22:00 (twelve years ago) link

Yeh, start date is less crucial than closing date/amt of time polls are open.

A lot of early stuff not available on US Spotify apparently...? Off to the Youtubemobile, then.

I claimed the Pink Floyd poll over here and I'm ready to go with it - someone add me to the queue?

Reality Check Cashing Services (Elvis Telecom), Friday, 6 April 2012 00:53 (twelve years ago) link

psyched for the Madonna poll.

piscesx, Friday, 6 April 2012 05:32 (twelve years ago) link

PINK FLOYD RULES

Peppermint Patty Hearst (VegemiteGrrl), Friday, 6 April 2012 05:39 (twelve years ago) link

who is going to step up for Bob Dylan at 51? this is getting ridiculous.

charlie h, Friday, 6 April 2012 08:42 (twelve years ago) link

i don't think i can take stones followed immediately by kinks
overwhelming!

two overweight dachshunds with three eyes (La Lechera), Friday, 6 April 2012 19:07 (twelve years ago) link

put me down for Steely Dan at number 51, please.

Bob Dylan's 115th Poll

Doctor Casino, Saturday, 7 April 2012 02:22 (twelve years ago) link

haaa

xp - haaaa

I'm so tempted to change Miles to Dylan at #31.

improvised explosive advice (WmC), Saturday, 7 April 2012 02:26 (twelve years ago) link

do it do it do it

but you tell Miles

Peppermint Patty Hearst (VegemiteGrrl), Saturday, 7 April 2012 02:32 (twelve years ago) link

If for real no one else is on for Dylan, it would be my pleasure.

If someone earlier subs out for him, I would take Sleater-Kinney.

something of an astrological coup (tipsy mothra), Monday, 9 April 2012 23:49 (twelve years ago) link

those should be:

16. Rolling Stones - rogermexico (finished)

17. The Kinks - C. Grisso/McCain (POLLS NOW OPEN)

improvised explosive advice (WmC), Tuesday, 10 April 2012 00:34 (twelve years ago) link

I'd be willing to do a Sleater-Kinney & offshoots poll.

Raymond Dubious Davies (C. Grisso/McCain), Tuesday, 10 April 2012 01:14 (twelve years ago) link

yesssssssssssssss

or maybe riot grrl in general?

Thoughts? You must have loads. (a hoy hoy), Wednesday, 11 April 2012 06:35 (twelve years ago) link

Put me down for The Replacements/Westerberg/et al sometime in 2014.

I dunno. I <heart> S-K more than any other grrl group, but mainly because I haven't really researched further into the genre. I was figuring on doing S-K (about 90 songs) and offshoots/prehistory/posthistory involving Tucker or Brownstein (Excuse 17, Heavens To Betsy, Cadallaca etc.).

Hoo Nu Cookies (crüt), Wednesday, 18 April 2012 01:03 (twelve years ago) link

Weren't we having an Aphex Twin and a Smashing Pumpkins poll? I'll do any of them if you're interested.

Moka, Thursday, 19 April 2012 05:21 (twelve years ago) link

Pumpkins poll would be awesome, I have this fear it would basically be like me, Ned and Euler though....

Doctor Casino, Thursday, 19 April 2012 15:56 (twelve years ago) link

Someone should do an Australian tracks (or albums? or bands??) poll, cos there could be a good amount a variety without there being a completely insane amount of choice (at least not for a non-specialist like me). Think the results could be quite unpredictable (?)

Friends of Mr Caeiro (NickB), Thursday, 19 April 2012 16:03 (twelve years ago) link

Also a reggae tracks poll could be amazing.

Think Nick Cave would sweep just because of familiarity. Actually a Nick Cave poll would be interesting (I'm not volunteering for this one).

A Flying Nun poll would be pretty goddamn great though.

Reality Check Cashing Services (Elvis Telecom), Thursday, 19 April 2012 20:42 (twelve years ago) link

Combination Aus/NZ poll would be great! Tall Dwarfs, Saints, Scientists, Birthday Party, Clean, Dead C, Flying Nun in general, AC/DC, INXS, Enz/Finn/etc., Radio Birdman, Rose Tattoo...

They celebrate ANZAC Day, may as well.

pplains, Thursday, 19 April 2012 20:52 (twelve years ago) link

australian poll would be a ton of fun and not at all predictable imo

lathe darkman (some dude), Thursday, 19 April 2012 20:54 (twelve years ago) link

feels like a very timely suggesting this week, too, what with Gotye hitting #1 in the states and a guy from Men At Work passing away

lathe darkman (some dude), Thursday, 19 April 2012 21:07 (twelve years ago) link

and some talk of a John Farnham poll on the Stones thread too

Ismael Klata, Thursday, 19 April 2012 21:08 (twelve years ago) link

There's also the Avalanches, Kylie Minogue, Bee Gees, the Church, Radio Birdman, the Triffids, the Go-Betweens, Dead Can Dance, the Necks...

Friends of Mr Caeiro (NickB), Thursday, 19 April 2012 21:13 (twelve years ago) link

Australia could easily have its own poll, but I'm not sure NZ could...it would be more fruitful to poll them together.

Johnny Fever, Thursday, 19 April 2012 21:16 (twelve years ago) link

also it would hilariously make some people really mad to do that

lathe darkman (some dude), Thursday, 19 April 2012 21:18 (twelve years ago) link
