the only 112 songs i know are "anywhere" and "peaches and cream" ;_; perhaps i will have to have a listen to some of their other stuff

my choice b/w the two would be "anywhere" btw, which i adore

“We hated ‘Only You,’ says Jones. “The only thing that made us like that song was the remix that featured Biggie. We liked Slim’s part in the original song, but Slim hated his part in the song though. ‘Only You’ wasn’t a record that was showcasing us vocally the way we wanted to be showcased vocally. There wasn’t a whole lot of riffs and runs and it wasn’t our best harmonies or our best ballad.

“We said to each other this song wasn’t going to do anything because it was just a beat. We didn’t look at it from the perspective of it being a club banger or a hot song because we were four vocalists in a group and our lead single was going to be different than what we were used to doing. Once Biggie hopped on the remix, we thought Biggie kilt it, but on the original it was one of those songs we weren’t really feeling."

the opening note of "anywhere" is my favorite opening note of any song ever, and that's my vote

i thought "Peaches & Cream" was the most amazing song when i first saw the video w/ "Dance With Me" spliced in the middle and i thought it was just a really crazy bridge. then i found it they were just two really good songs, one of which is marred by an "if you're sexy and you know it clap your hands" refrain.

I like "Dance With Me" so much that that bridge not only doesn't bother me, but I look forward to it with glee whenever I listen to the song

the "peaches & cream" remix that was on we invented the remix is kinda wacky but i always sorta loved it

i've listened to 'dance with me' every day since it showed up at the end of a radio mix

had completely forgotten about it, thought it was lloyd

after a decade of being fairly certain 'peaches & cream' was really not such a big dealio i woke up this morning with it in my head and havent been able to shake it off

i have to say i am pretty equable with any formulation of top 112 songs really, they're kind of a group you never feel like you have to go to bat for like that (in a good way)

"Dance With Me", but yeah I'd be comfortable voting for any number of these. At the time I'd have said "Peaches & Cream" for sure.

But "Dance With Me" I think is distinguished by operating so successfully in pretty much all settings. The "if you're sexy and you know it" section, far from being a drawback, feels like this really generous gesture of commonality , like royalty personally handing out bread to the starving masses of mainstream R&B club dancefloor inhabitants.
