This stings that much more b/c he's been hyping his new album as a return to basics, true R&B record. He's doing that thing I hate where artists straight up lie about what their new album is going to be

(I actually sorta love his "One in a Million," though, so I can't complain too much about the title-aping, I guess)

Haven't heard this latest Ne-Yo track yet, but is the R&B trend in 2012 dropping a compelling single and then following it up with a shitty Guetta-esque club track? See also, Usher.

I feel like as one of the few listeners who values albums as albums, I'm doubly fucked over by the Guetta-ization of R&B. Because almost without exception, those singles not only suck, but they totally fuck up the flow of an entire album

I don't think I actively dislike a single song on the album, I just don't really unabashedly love any of it either, so when you folks get all on about THESE are the great songs and THESE are the terrible ones it's all greek to me.

Yeah, not sure if I'd put it in quite so strong terms but I find this album a really enjoyable straight-through listen, in part because of how it jumps all over the place.

I skip around but am too committed to the songs I adore.

for me tracks 1-7 are mostly worthless and tracks 8-14 are solid (w/ bonus tracks mostly on the good side)

of the three r&b things released this week that i listened to today, the wynter gordon ep was the best. bit more straightforward than "stimela" would have had you expecting but still pretty good.

the k michelle one has me a bit worried about her tbh, it has its high points but overall has this vibe of someone who missed her moment. what is she doing in a reality tv show and naked on the cover and talking about her ass somuch :(
