The answer is pretty much most of them. I think folks also overlook, because of the lyrical content/Ian Curtis thing, that a lot of Joy Division stuff is pretty damn fuckin' danceable also.

i have danced to so many NO songs -- both alone and in groups of various sizes. It's totally sublime! Dancing is at least 1/3 of what I like about this band tbh.
Trying to think of top 3 favorites may take some experimenting. How many more days do we have?

there are certain newer NO songs that (I think?) have bad reputations that are incredibly fun to sing along with (esp. "Rock the Shack" and "Jetstream")

Haha "Jetstream" did not make my ballot, but dang it's a fun chorus to sing with someone else.

imo new order is great for dancing because you can attach to so many different parts of the song -- it also allows a variety of people to find something to grab onto
the lol depressive teen dance club i used to go in high school to would blow up when they played "true faith" and to this day i feel like the lyrics are floating on top of the music because i remember really ~feeling~ them one shitty friday night.

I only really like the singles on Republic

The singles from Republic are all pretty great (I even like Spooky in the album's sequence) but Everyone Everywhere and final three tracks (Times Change/Special/Avalanche) are also great. The whole album is drenched with that 90s flirtation with the end of days as party aesthetic that really works for me, Times Change particularly with it's menacing keyboard line and silly vocals. The videos really underscore this, too. Especially the Baywatch Regret one!

the "Times Change" oboe would be my favorite thing were it not for the existence of the "Some Distant Memory" oboe solo.

Top three for dancing:
1. Crystal (so hedonistic)
2. Thieves Like Us (used to request this when I lived in Houston, it was good for dancing and drinking at the same time)
3. Bizarre Love Triangle because everyone would mob the floor when it came on

possibly the most underappreciated New Order single is "Guilt Is A Useless Emotion"

Totally forgot about Guilt Is A Useless Emotion, not sure what I would have pushed off my ballot to include it but it is a good track and one of the few dance numbers NO did late career.

what do we think of Lost Sirens? "Californian Grass" ain't bad.

It didn't excite me like I expected it to. I've heard rumors they were in the studio with the Chemical Brothers again and Bernard must have a cache of work he did with Stuart Price, so i'm really hoping the stuff they're working on now is more electronic than their post Republic work.

What about the Bad Lieutenant album? Was anybody still paying attention at that point?

so i listened to Get Ready for the first time today. what i really remember about it is that he really didn't want to wash his car. lol. also that one song i swear is a Primal Scream song.

it was a good album, much better than i thought it would have been. not sure if any tracks will make it into the Top 40 however.

Well, Bee, you've seen my ballot, so you already know which tracks I recommend and how fond I am of that album.

I think it's a really good one. Tack on 'Here to Stay' and you have one of their best.

My overpowering memory of "Someone Like You" is being out of my gourd in fall '02 in Chicago's Metro after a Sleater Kinney show, dancing with a lovely boy I picked up just before a busload of Koreans invaded the club.

How could you name Slow Jam, very easily the worst song in the New Order catalog, and not mention Primitive Notion, one of the best songs they've ever done.

Glad to see other people repping for Get Ready though.

What about Run Wild? That's always been one of my favourites on that album. Vicious Streak is one I don't think I rated that much at the time but love it now.

Run Wild is good but the alternate mix by Steve Osborne is better than the version on the album.
