putting this in time travel because this band totally made me feel like 1988
i went to see bitchitronics friday night, and the 2nd opening band was radar eyes, which is tagged all wrong in the link below -- not psychedelic at all by my standards, somewhat frosty/noisy cerebral rock might be a little more accurate?
it was my first time seeing them -- to me they kind of sounded like a hybrid of the church and the verlaines? i dunno. maybe someone else. definitely late 80s vocals. they're not new around here or anything, i just never saw them before. regretting that!

Been listening to Justin Walter's new album (Lullabies & Nightmares), which has just come out on Kranky. Lots of super-nice synth loops and trumpety sounds, good ambient music to work to imo.

No idea where to put this because blues control has been ALL over the place, but I just picked up valley tangents today and it's all over the place in a good way. At least IMO. I found it in the "experimental" section ?! Pretty straight ahead jams to me. Recommended!

I saw Guerila Toss once but the screechy four-year-old-having-a-temper-tantrum style vocals were just not doing it for me

yeah abrasion is part of the equation there but when she jumps around I start jumping around in sympathetic response and that always gets the party going... and not to get all muso about it but she's not just screeching randomly, there's a v strong & real adherence of the vocals to the krazy rhythms and that's harder to do than it looks, which is maybe akin to saying you simply MUST admire the delicate form of the person gently tapping a ten penny nail into yr ear

so yeah they're def not for everybody, maybe just me + sarahel

like last night was a typical sparsely attended noize show, but i'd imagine they'd be even better in like, a super crowded dance party

i will consider it -- but i have to know where to go first. i found a video of a girl shrieking and doing some fly dance moves but no location for this mystery show.

they play philly fairly often due to profligate affiliation, think they were trying to squeeze out dates in order to make it to the west coast, but it does impair the ilxor-to-show ratio for this tour
