What about Run Wild? That's always been one of my favourites on that album. Vicious Streak is one I don't think I rated that much at the time but love it now.

Run Wild is good but the alternate mix by Steve Osborne is better than the version on the album.

I'm glad we got to vote for 40 - Regret is the only post-80s song in my top 20 but I had room to get into the later stuff further down the ballot. The title track of Waiting for the Sirens' Call is their best reunion song imo.

I agree with this. I was kind of surprised how high I ended up putting it on my list but it's one of their most moving songs.

1963 is high on my ballot, mostly for the '95 version on the Best Of. I didn't vote specifically for any remixes, but I think it blows the original out of the water.

I still vividly remember being in London as a teenager and finding out Substance there was a 2 cassette deal with all of the b-sides on it and how overjoyed I was to discover all of those songs

i bought a used cassette of the hits part of Substance in middle school and had no idea there was a 2nd disc for years

Substance on double vinyl was one of the first records I bought when I went to university 17 years ago, for the princely sum of £3. I still play it now.

My brother had/has the double CD, which I borrowed off him to tape the b-sides.

I can blame The Cure, New Order, Prince and Pet Shop Boys for causing me to gravitate towards bands' b-sides when I start really following them

The Smiths were good in that regard too.

I actually owned the "True Faith" 45, which came in its condensed Pettibone form and of course "1963"

I bought the True Faith remix 12" because it was so pretty.

do we need to specify which mix we prefer of each sonq in question, or can we just you know say 'True Faith' or whatever?

One of the things that put me off about NO initially but I now love about them is the extent to which productions like "Face Up" have this glossy futurism as well as a flimsy, low budget quality -- often within the same song. When I hear Movement (which I am really liking), it makes me think that a big piece of the reason for that dynamic is their roots in Martin Hannett's thin, clangy productions, which a record like Low Life builds on with drum machines and synths that sound like they'd never even plugged in until the engineer pushed record in the studio.

Btw, where is Dan Selzer in this poll? I almost can't imagine ILM polling NO without him.

i just can't believe how good Get Ready is. i have a new album by one of my all time favorite bands and i never knew about it.

i have listened to just about everything they have don within the last month or so. New Order are a great band.
