yeah abrasion is part of the equation there but when she jumps around I start jumping around in sympathetic response and that always gets the party going... and not to get all muso about it but she's not just screeching randomly, there's a v strong & real adherence of the vocals to the krazy rhythms and that's harder to do than it looks, which is maybe akin to saying you simply MUST admire the delicate form of the person gently tapping a ten penny nail into yr ear
so yeah they're def not for everybody, maybe just me + sarahel

I mean I like foot village and black pus and captain ahab and a bunch of loud noisy shit, but something abt her specific frequency of screeching is v not for me

if lamp goes to the toronto show tonight and I can convince la lechera to hit the chicago date, that's a pretty good ilxor-to-show ratio.
did you pick up a CD, flopson? amusing typo on the security sticker, or at least it passed for comedy at 1am last tues.

also what is a humanbeast?
they're pretty crazy, like heavy ass synth beats, occasional shreaking female vocals
― flopson, Thursday, 6 June 2013 21:04 (eleven years ago) link
like last night was a typical sparsely attended noize show, but i'd imagine they'd be even better in like, a super crowded dance party
― flopson, Thursday, 6 June 2013 21:05 (eleven years ago) link
I'd be going to the Philly show except OH WAIT THERE IS NONE >:[

i will consider it -- but i have to know where to go first. i found a video of a girl shrieking and doing some fly dance moves but no location for this mystery show.
― free your spirit pig (La Lechera), Thursday, 6 June 2013 21:18 (eleven years ago) link
they play philly fairly often due to profligate affiliation, think they were trying to squeeze out dates in order to make it to the west coast, but it does impair the ilxor-to-show ratio for this tour
but here are some more representative humanbeast samplings for LL so maybe I can get the stats back up, I can get you secret location and/or handshake if you wanna go

Run by KEXP DJ Alex Ruder, Hush Hush Records places a spotlight on the emotional and introspective sound known as "Night Bus," a multi-genre aesthetic that elaborates on the world of headphones, late-night travels, intimate encounters, and contemplative rides on public transportation. Let's get emotional.

This Quicksails album is a damn pleasant a way of realigning yr neurons, possibly the best thing I've heard on Spectrum Spools so far. Love that track just there, sounds like a devotional synth jamming with a percolator full of hot mud.

If anyone's after some sinister heavy drone music, the new Kwaidan album is really amazing. It's one of the guys from Locrian and one of the guys from Zelienople plus some other Chicago bloke. Really abyssal sounds, like peering into the deepest of wells and feeling like the darkness down there simply has no end. Album is called Make All The Hell Of Dark Metal Bright. Sorry if that image is a bit big, but it's got a really lovely cover too imo.

okay, I just dropped a 100-track playlist into the Spotify thread that may be of interest to fellow freaks itt. mutant/fake drum 'n bass through a techno/industrial/noize prism, starts off v. tastefully and then degenerates w/ a steady hand into pointless, obsessive and delightful beat-smashing. hours of future-primitive anomie f/ yr inner Mr. Humongous.

^^^ love this. the track was prob. digitally hatched, but its evocation of elliptical analogue skew administers a hypnotic dose of imperfection (yesterday found myself subscribing w/ terrifying enthusiasm to unregistered's Spotify playlist of hiss anthems).
need the metronomic fix tho, and I've been hitting this skeletal Aisha Devi remix that sparks on sub sludge and fumes f/ six minutes:
