Run by KEXP DJ Alex Ruder, Hush Hush Records places a spotlight on the emotional and introspective sound known as "Night Bus," a multi-genre aesthetic that elaborates on the world of headphones, late-night travels, intimate encounters, and contemplative rides on public transportation.

Let's get emotional.

attn: the vaporwave u are now enjoying may be Night Bus proceed w/ caution

This Quicksails album is a damn pleasant a way of realigning yr neurons, possibly the best thing I've heard on Spectrum Spools so far. Love that track just there, sounds like a devotional synth jamming with a percolator full of hot mud.

If anyone's after some sinister heavy drone music, the new Kwaidan album is really amazing. It's one of the guys from Locrian and one of the guys from Zelienople plus some other Chicago bloke. Really abyssal sounds, like peering into the deepest of wells and feeling like the darkness down there simply has no end. Album is called Make All The Hell Of Dark Metal Bright. Sorry if that image is a bit big, but it's got a really lovely cover too imo.

okay, I just dropped a 100-track playlist into the Spotify thread that may be of interest to fellow freaks itt. mutant/fake drum 'n bass through a techno/industrial/noize prism, starts off v. tastefully and then degenerates w/ a steady hand into pointless, obsessive and delightful beat-smashing. hours of future-primitive anomie f/ yr inner Mr. Humongous.

Man, I am so into Selma Oxor right now! Also, this is one of my favorite tracks of 2013 so far (idk what, if any, "rolling" thread that it would naturally belong to so it's going here)

^^^ love this. the track was prob. digitally hatched, but its evocation of elliptical analogue skew administers a hypnotic dose of imperfection (yesterday found myself subscribing w/ terrifying enthusiasm to unregistered's Spotify playlist of hiss anthems).

need the metronomic fix tho, and I've been hitting this skeletal Aisha Devi remix that sparks on sub sludge and fumes f/ six minutes:

Just found out about this from a post over on EMF. Polish post-rock, but not all stiff, to my ears, like so much of that stuff.

http://stararzeka.bandcamp.com/album/cie-chmury-nad-ukrytym-polem-cd-instant-classic

First track is mostly pretty gorgeous so far and should push lots of the right buttons for folks on this thread.

I have been listening to that Stara Rzeka album today and it is fucking incredible.

Damo Suzuki's Parrot, Wednesday, 26 June 2013 21:54 (eleven years ago) link

I should listen again. I lost interest at some point. Kind of not the best moment to switch over to it since I've got DJ Q playing. Uh oh Team Tim infiltration. (Though maybe DJ Q occasionally belongs on this thread?)

Did anybody tell you that your voice is like Abd Al Halim's? (_Rudipherous_), Thursday, 27 June 2013 02:53 (eleven years ago) link

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AeUurGprP6M

There's a pretty good album of punky improvised music right here on this Bandcamp page by this Argentinian band called Ricarda Cometa that's free to download and worth giving a whirl if you like that sort of thing (amazing cover art too, I should really post that on that other thread). There's a bit of wonky kumbia going on, lots of scratchy guitar & drum kineticism like they've been listening to the Ex or the Dog Faced Hermans or someone, some of the whole Beefheartian jazzified guitar scrabble makes me think of Joe Baiza or Eugene Chadbourne. All kind of low-key, but plenty of fun nonetheless.

Filk Hollins (NickB), Wednesday, 3 July 2013 13:16 (eleven years ago) link

Wow, it's well worth doing a GIS for Hideyuki Katsumata who's the artist that did the cover art for that record. I don't know them at all but there's some stunning drawings there.

This has been mentioned in few other threads but doesn't seem to have been mentioned here (and it seems like it should be): that Troller record is really incredible. Didn't think I'd enjoy as much as I did. Pretty spooky. Ethereal, floaty female vocals. Dark and slinky synth grooves. Killer album cover.
