"pretty into those house piano vamps"

totally!

scott seward, Thursday, 13 June 2013 03:48 (eleven years ago) link

if i were a dj i would play this every night for months.

scott seward, Thursday, 13 June 2013 03:48 (eleven years ago) link

i actually just heard the disko section this morning - what i was responding to earlier - but i dig the whole 3 part thing a bunch. would buy.

scott seward, Thursday, 13 June 2013 03:51 (eleven years ago) link

i mean he is hitting SO many of my 80's and early 90's buttons in 20 minutes so i am kinda programmed to love it, but it also just sounds fresh. now. not just then. which is what the good people do.

scott seward, Thursday, 13 June 2013 03:54 (eleven years ago) link

he should have todd terry remix it. that would be funny.

scott seward, Thursday, 13 June 2013 03:58 (eleven years ago) link

i love the excitement when you can't wait to hear something in the wild.

ogmor, Monday, 17 June 2013 16:30 (eleven years ago) link

this is good, i actually like this one. the samba mix at least. gonna pretend it's by bugz in the attic

r|t|c, Monday, 17 June 2013 16:37 (eleven years ago) link

I've basically listened to "Strandbar" for 24 hours solid. Well, minus sleep and some socializing and climbing wherein I was wishing the entire time that I was listening to it. I think it might be my favorite dance track of the last five years.

Not Simone Choule (Eric H.), Sunday, 23 June 2013 01:56 (eleven years ago) link

All the optimism and excitement and rush of "Inspector" with a funky, chugging rhythm underneath. So fucking great.

Not Simone Choule (Eric H.), Sunday, 23 June 2013 01:57 (eleven years ago) link

Yeah, waiting to hear this on a hot summer day, out in the sunshine.

MikoMcha, Sunday, 23 June 2013 11:01 (eleven years ago) link

samba mix or gtfo

You are all wrong, disko mix all the way.

boxedjoy, Monday, 24 June 2013 08:40 (eleven years ago) link

caek, Monday, 24 June 2013 09:56 (eleven years ago) link

wacky christmas jumper music

parfait

andrew m., Monday, 24 June 2013 14:09 (eleven years ago) link

this is really dumb and not in a good way. the only hint of interesting is in the piano breakdown bit, but it has the same nasty sheen off it as lanzarote.

Shamrock Shoe (LocalGarda), Monday, 24 June 2013 14:14 (eleven years ago) link

"really dumb" does not apply to dance music.

Not Simone Choule (Eric H.), Monday, 24 June 2013 14:15 (eleven years ago) link

sounds like the start of an interesting debate

Shamrock Shoe (LocalGarda), Monday, 24 June 2013 14:19 (eleven years ago) link

I defer because I conversely believe it's possible for dance music to be "really smart and not in a good way."

Not Simone Choule (Eric H.), Monday, 24 June 2013 14:25 (eleven years ago) link

In any case, I don't get (or really like) this track. :(

ed.b, Monday, 24 June 2013 16:17 (eleven years ago) link

This wasn't nearly as instant as Inspector Norse or Snooze for me, I had to play it a few times for it to click. I can't wait to hear it out properly to see if it works as well.

boxedjoy, Monday, 24 June 2013 22:02 (eleven years ago) link

"lanzarote" kinda burned me, my instareaction was that it was all tremendous fun but it didn't stick and sounds repellently wacky to me now. i think this is much the same

lex pretend, Wednesday, 26 June 2013 06:04 (eleven years ago) link

this sounds soooo much less wacky than lanzarote to me

max, Wednesday, 26 June 2013 10:37 (eleven years ago) link

lanzarote grinds my gears majorly.

Shamrock Shoe (LocalGarda), Wednesday, 26 June 2013 10:39 (eleven years ago) link

i didnt hate L, but i didnt/dont listen to it much. this is a lot less novelty-y i think

max, Wednesday, 26 June 2013 10:41 (eleven years ago) link

This is so much better than Lanzarote.

P.s. disko.

Josh L, Wednesday, 26 June 2013 11:22 (eleven years ago) link

stop lying to yrselves like norse wasnt 100% also wcjm

r|t|c, Wednesday, 26 June 2013 11:32 (eleven years ago) link

norse was wacky but it also was catchy. these are just aimless half-ideas. lanzarote tho is actively nasty, just horrible melodic wandering over a big lumpen beat.

whatever you think of norse there's something about how it was made that managed to give it huge longevity for such a popular record. which isn't huge longevity relative to other things but still.

Shamrock Shoe (LocalGarda), Wednesday, 26 June 2013 11:37 (eleven years ago) link

yeah, tho i think this is less wacky than also inspector norse (which i did love and played a lot) xp

max, Wednesday, 26 June 2013 11:37 (eleven years ago) link

yeah i agree. i don't think it's wacky, prob a sincere enough attempt at doing something latin in his own big way. the bit where the piano line is walloped home is kind of unpleasant tho. it is like bugz in the attic or something a little.

Shamrock Shoe (LocalGarda), Wednesday, 26 June 2013 11:42 (eleven years ago) link

i think i mentioned it upthread but hearing inspector norse, on my birthday, on d***s, surrounded by my best friends was...woahhhhh

the Shearer of simulated snowsex etc. (Dwight Yorke), Wednesday, 26 June 2013 11:44 (eleven years ago) link

this is good, i actually like this one. the samba mix at least. gonna pretend it's by bugz in the attic
