This is really interesting to me, because the label was really pushing "Halo" as the next "Irreplacable"/a career defining song for Bey but it seems to be underperforming/ overshadowed by "Diva"... much like "If I Were A Boy" was totally eclipsed by "Single Ladies"... do people not like ballads anymore?

maybe this 'two singles at once' strategy wasn't the smartest idea

honestly I don't hear any more singles off of the I Am... side of the album... maybe "Ave Maria"?

those are pretty limp, neither is nearly as good as "irreplaceable"

radio should be a single

"halo" is a beautiful song

halo is terrific, i don't feel that it's being promoted at all though

and it seems like an obvious #1 single so the fact that it's kind of underperforming is surprising

yeah it kind of isn't, she did perform it at the NAACP Honors awards though

I've grown to like "Single Ladies", but otherwise this whole Beyonce project is wack imo

1) "return the favor" is easily the best song on the album i had no idea it was a flop

ya i like "return the favor" a lot too... dunno why it slipped under the radar. i think it's too cassie for radio, and by that i mean featherweight and airy. of course that's also what makes it great

the chorus to "my life would suck without you" is so lazy!

I think the chorus is pitch-perfect, I love the way it swells. The song is so massive! I don't get why people don't like it.

whats so special about "since u been gone" anyway, I never got why everyone latched onto it like that

also re beyonce, maybe you're (brainwasher) right w/r/t the 2 singles at once strategy. i like "broken hearted girl", "disappear" and "radio" each a lot, but idk if they're "singles". i guess if "diva" can be one, "radio" has a shot (not a slight, i'm just surprised it caught on with radio peeps). "ave maria" would be the absolute worst choice, and it would fucking blow my mind if it was chosen as a single

I know they're planning on releasing "Ego" as a single (there's a remix with Kanye supposedly which is LOLZ), "Radio" definitely, I would say "Scared of Lonely" but I hate Beyonce's version... "Smash Into You" maybe? "Disappear" is my favorite song on the album but it's not single-worthy to me.

yeah jordan basically all of the I Am... side is languid, slow-burning, sleepy-time ballads thats why I don't hear any singles...

i think "radio" would be huge - i feel like maybe the label gave into beyonces wishes in releasing "diva" over "radio" cuz i can't see how anyone who got paid to decide such things would think that "diva" had more hit potential than "radio"

actually "ego" was going to be the second single but r&b/urban radio started playing "diva" a lot so they made that the second single

dude i have not even listened to "ego," "smash into you" or "scared of lonely" since like october. do you really think they'd make something that was essentially a b-side a single?

"disappear" is really good. the bridge is just amazing, it kills me every time. i kind of wish she made a whole song around that hook.

i see what you're saying regarding radio play and "halo" jordan, but i still think it's a great song. among many other things that make it great, bey's inflections on the titular word are just :-O

"ego" is great but way too vintage to be a hit on modern radio - would be like sharon jones going top 10 or something

yeah im listening to "smash" right now, and it's nothing special at all, i'd be really disappointed if it was a single.

i think to some extent "ego" and "if i were a boy" are just a little too out of place in radio right now, if you imagine it sandwiched in between "just dance" and "single ladies" and "heartless" and "turnin me on" etc. kinda just not of the right tempo/mood nowadays i think

"ego" is a nice song, but for what the lyrics are, the rest of it is kind of toothless, no? "radio" and "disappear" are the best choices, where is lex to back me up

I dunno, "Ego" is very anthemic... even if the production isn't very 'modern,', I could see it being big (if not on Pop it'll definitely do well on R&B... everyone I know loves it). I can't hear "Disappear" on the radio.

dude there's always a place for a ballad on the radio. all im saying is if they're going to do the double single thing again, it would make the most sense to go with "radio" and "disappear" (ie banger + ballad), which after all are actually on the album proper

yeah my school's paper got sent the album when "just dance" was still bubbling and kind of exciting and i dont remember anything about it besides thinking that nothing was at all as good as "just dance" but there are a few good house-for-12-year-olds songs, but i dont remember which

i'm def the biggest "just dance" backer on ilx- song is fucking huge imo
