love that shawnna's still doing incredible things with her voice like on the criminally underrated "nappy boy"

lex pretend, Friday, 7 March 2014 09:07 (ten years ago) link

the shawnna is cool, she's always been so talented. she have a whole mixtape out or anything?

this list is completely bizarre, amazing, hilarious, and aggravating http://www.billboard.com/articles/list/5923200/hot-rap-songs-chart-25th-anniversary-top-100-songs?list_page=0

Kept scrolling down thinking, "please not Thrift Shop, please not Thrift Shop," and yet, inevitably, Thrift Shop.

Still enjoy KRIT, even though I feel like we know all his tricks at this point

voodoo chili, Friday, 7 March 2014 13:34 (ten years ago) link

"Work It" is on the list dude

the list makes sense insofar as Hot Rap Tracks has always been a muddled bastard chart, the biggest rap songs on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop chart (and now the airplay version of that chart) would yield a much clearer narrative.

is work it the only top 100 song they give missy credit for there? I'm not clicking through multiple pages to depress myself.

PSY talks The Nut Job (forksclovetofu), Friday, 7 March 2014 15:58 (ten years ago) link

"Hot Boyz" is also on the list, much higher than "Work It." but it's not really a matter of 'giving credit,' the list is based on chart stats. it's biggest, not best, there's no editorial bent.

boosie got ripped up like rambo

the editorial bent comes in choosing which picture represents missy and she's always inflatable suit to me

shawnna going in hard on this track

surprised at how solid the Ross album is since his previous ones have only a handful of tracks I like between 'em. don't think the guy's all that as a rapper still but the production is stepped up

‘Catch the Throne’ tracklist unveiled, first song debuts
By Ours is the Fury on March 6, 2014
Just a day after fans learned hip hop artists will be releasing a mixtape of Game of Thrones-inspired music, even more details about “Catch the Throne” have been provided, courtesy of Billboard. The full tracklist has now been unveiled, and Billboard reveals that some performers “nerded out” more than others, with rappers like Common making multiple specific references to the show. Three artists took on each season, with Big Boi, Bodega Bamz and Magazeen handling season 1; Kilo Kish, Daddy Yankee and Dominik Omega on season 2; and Common, Snow Tha Product and Dee Goodz tackling season 3.

The tracklist for “Catch the Throne”:

1. Big Boi – “Mother of Dragons”
2. Magazeen – “Iron Throne”
3. Bodega Bamz – “Win or Die”
4. Kilo Kish – “Magical Reality”
5. Daddy Yankee – “Born to Rule”
6. Dominik Omega – “Arya’s Prayer”
7. Snow – “Fire”
8. Dee Goodz – “The Parallel”
9. Common – “Interlude/The Ladder”
10. Wale – “King Slayer”

As a bonus, one of the songs has made its debut already. “King Slayer” by Wale heavily features the main theme from Game of Thrones and samples from the late Ned Stark.

knowing that whiney still reads ilx with images on explains why he's so angry on the internet all the time

i do, but i fall behind on certain threads

perfect puppy (Whiney G. Weingarten), Tuesday, 11 March 2014 22:34 (ten years ago) link

why would you read ilx with images on?

lex pretend, Wednesday, 12 March 2014 01:03 (ten years ago) link

though posting a youtube link with no text is the height of "even i am not bothered about this song so you don't need to be"

lex pretend, Wednesday, 12 March 2014 01:04 (ten years ago) link

I've posted at most a handful of times in this thread I prefer not to patronize those who would click w halfassed enthusiasms, song speaks for itself in all it's wavey, offbeat glory

rap steve gadd (D-40), Wednesday, 12 March 2014 01:52 (ten years ago) link

one of the primary reason i stopped modding was because i wanted ilx back with images on!
