they sound like they belong in the sewers level of a final fantasy game

I like the expansive quality of the opening tracks.

this is like saying "this sounds like electronic music to me!" but the opening five minutes of this record reminds me of '80s klaus schulze

emo canon in twee major (BradNelson), Monday, 31 March 2014 18:21 (ten years ago) link

if you say so, don't really get a Klaus Schulze vibe, but whatever

nitro-burning funny car (Moodles), Monday, 31 March 2014 18:39 (ten years ago) link

so yeah never mind!

emo canon in twee major (BradNelson), Monday, 31 March 2014 18:42 (ten years ago) link

electronic music you say?

°ㅇ๐ْ ° (gr8080), Monday, 31 March 2014 18:47 (ten years ago) link

sounds like High Llamas meets "Midnight Cowboy" meets Umberto to me

please note I have no idea whta i'm talking about

alpine static, Monday, 31 March 2014 19:07 (ten years ago) link

srsly, tho, is Strandbar the greatest thing ever recorded ever for all time

alpine static, Monday, 31 March 2014 19:20 (ten years ago) link

b/c it feels like it right now

alpine static, Monday, 31 March 2014 19:20 (ten years ago) link

it's a great track, but when it came up in the stream, I was a little bummed that the new stuff had ended.

nitro-burning funny car (Moodles), Monday, 31 March 2014 19:23 (ten years ago) link

I knew it and Norse, but that's about it, so I'm good

alpine static, Monday, 31 March 2014 19:29 (ten years ago) link

intro track and many other synthy bits on this make me feel like i'm in a hot tub

hug niceman (psychgawsple), Monday, 31 March 2014 19:53 (ten years ago) link

a hot tub in space

hug niceman (psychgawsple), Monday, 31 March 2014 19:53 (ten years ago) link

He should've done the score for the Cosmos reboot.

Herbie Handcock (Murgatroid), Monday, 31 March 2014 19:54 (ten years ago) link

I'm all about space hot tubs

nitro-burning funny car (Moodles), Monday, 31 March 2014 19:58 (ten years ago) link

if i hosted cosmos my spaceship of the imagination would definitely have several hot tubs

Your debut album is called It’s Album Time. No one will argue with that. The time seems ripe.

It’s a stupid title, a joke, of course. I could also have gone for It’s Money Time or It’s Bestseller Time. I’ve always had a thing for jokes like these.

lols

its p remarkable that he's become so successful using a moniker thats an eye-rolling pun

°ㅇ๐ْ ° (gr8080), Thursday, 3 April 2014 15:04 (ten years ago) link

it's remarkable how many people apparently have no idea it's a pun!

a victory for dumb jokes or a failure?

°ㅇ๐ْ ° (gr8080), Thursday, 3 April 2014 16:06 (ten years ago) link

markers, Thursday, 3 April 2014 16:24 (ten years ago) link

One thing I've never been sure of, is "Terje" pronounced the same as "Terry" or is there a somewhat different Norwegian twist to it?

yeah i pronounce it as "tear-yay" (first part rhyming with "pear") but that could be completely wrong

le goon (J0rdan S.), Thursday, 3 April 2014 17:10 (ten years ago) link

lol on the phone last week with a friend who's reviewing album I kept saying TERJAY and he kept pronouncing it correctly and I felt like an ass when I hung up.

have u revised yr view of inspector norse as 'cheesy dance music that is also boring'

a respected member of the hip-hop criticism community (nakhchivan), Thursday, 3 April 2014 17:47 (ten years ago) link

Yeah, it took a while to grow on me. I probably still prefer the earlier edits though.

how's life, Thursday, 3 April 2014 17:50 (ten years ago) link

norse / whateverest 4 lyfe, especially that portamento part in the middle

Me too and I usually don't find my people all that sexy.

hearty beard + makes great dance music + total goofball sense of humor = omgggg

also, cute smile!!!

funny and lolexander (Stevie D(eux)), Thursday, 3 April 2014 20:33 (ten years ago) link

actually iirc before I deleted it my Scruff profile read "Todd Terje's hand in marriage" under "WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING FOR"

funny and lolexander (Stevie D(eux)), Thursday, 3 April 2014 20:33 (ten years ago) link

Todd Terrier (as in the dog) would probably be the closest pronounciation-wise. Definitely more of a yay than a jay at the end there.

longneck, Thursday, 3 April 2014 20:44 (ten years ago) link

this beard madness must stop

i lost my shoes on acid (jed_), Thursday, 3 April 2014 21:26 (ten years ago) link

i've had a beard for almost all of the time between, like, mid-2005 and now

ha as the subsequent million posts proved, it's just weird that so few have heard of todd terry!

lex pretend, Friday, 4 April 2014 06:42 (ten years ago) link

(i mean, so few people who have heard of todd terje, ie are into dance music, have not heard of house legend todd terry)

lex pretend, Friday, 4 April 2014 06:42 (ten years ago) link

I don't think it is a case of being ignorant of Todd Terry I mean as well as being a legend he dented the charts with bat mobile, just incredulity that someone would attempt such a crap pun for a moniker.

xelab, Friday, 4 April 2014 06:51 (ten years ago) link

I think it's brill
