I voted for whoever rammed that fucking time capsule up their own arse forever.

this is between "Laid," ""Loser," "Can't Get Out of Bed" and yes "Spoonman." voting James.

All songs I recognize from the titles and like a fair bit:

. Morrissey, "The More You Ignore Me, the Closer I Get"
2. Tori Amos, "God"
10. Nirvana, "All Apologies"
15. Green Day, "Longview"
16. Soundgarden, Spoonman"
18. Pearl Jam, "Elderly Woman Behind the Counter..."
19. James, "Laid,"

Might give it to Morrissey. Despite his many faults, that one still gets in my head; love the "Beware, I bear more grudges/ than lonely High Court judges" bit.

Hm, the Morrissey song might be my least favourite when I listen to them right now. Leaning towards Pearl Jam of all things.

Too many grisy memories of singing that PJ with my best bros.

lot of songs i'm indifferent to or tired of from albums i like/love. "Laid" over "God," i guess.

Charlatans, so it has a few votes. That album it's from holds up really well.

dlp9001, Sunday, 13 April 2014 00:08 (ten years ago) link

yeap, but i still love that band. they were always so much fun live.

i only have isolated, persistent feelings of 90s nostalgia, really only still listen regularly to nirvana of the music of the era - and when i think abt 'the 90s' the impressions that come to mind aren't amazing. too much general non-music-related aversion keeps me from ever really wanting to come back to 14-year-old me

but looking at this list, it's like, wow, there was a time when i could just sit there playing alt rock radio 24-7 and feel like it was all good

"All Apologies" is a great song but I feel like I've seen it on the top of a thousand Nirvana lists over the past week. It's their "Imagine".

i saw one list with it at #1 recently but i thought that was an aberration, seems like "SLTS" is always #1 (unless it's something else totally contrarian/obscure)

some dude, Monday, 14 April 2014 01:43 (ten years ago) link

The unplugged version is their "In My Life"
