WOTM also has my favorite Kanye rap in some time (and that synth found all over New Order records circa 1989)

My initial impression is that the record isn't quite as lush or hooky as the first. I REALLY like "Walkin' on the Moon", "Fancy", and especially "Kelly's 12 Play", which somehow lived up the title and then some.

Oh, and "Mr. Yeah" has the most brilliant bit on the album with the whole "lovin' on my ella/ touchin' on my ella/ chillin' with my ella" riff.

My initial impression is that the record isn't quite as lush or hooky as the first.

i agree with this - i think it's missing something like "purple kisses" or "luv songs" (that said the ballads on this are awesome) (maybe sensual is the word, in terms of production), and i'm not sold on the tranciness of the "love vs. money" pairing, but the sonics in general are just sooo massive. tricky and LOS took it next universe w/ the beats

let it be known though that i wasn't enamored w/ love/hate until feb or march of last year (then it became one of my fav records of the decade) so i know this is going grow on me

there is seriously so much going on in this album...am going to need some time for it to sink in. holy shit, the orchestral climax to 'love vs money pt 2' though.

Getting it. I think this is MORE detailed, MORE lush.

Also more contrast, like the most swirling immersive arrangements can pull away to arid drums.

other than that it's really really good from beginning to end. i have only listened to it once and haven't read any of the discussion on here since I dl'ed it, but it's such a complete album. it's like AOR&B. very dope.

question is, wtf is it? at first, i took it as a projector revving up -- meant to signify the album's "cinematic" sound. could it be the sound of a money printer in action?

rap verse in "put it down" is pretty great

I love "Put It Down" for those flanged LOS drums that I may never tire of, but I feel like he's getting a little too confident in his vocals there maybe, whereas the rest of the album his voice isn't bothering me as much

i'm glad "Booty" is demoted to bonus track (has any 'lead single' ever been dropped as quickly? shit was out 2 weeks before they switched to "Rockin'), starting to think i shouldn't have even put it on iTunes.
