Some parts of this album, Leisure Suit Preben in particular, remind me of a more lighthearted version of DJ Food.

this album seems to be more popular than I expected

I kind of wondering if they're promoting through different channels. I first found out about it because a friend who is not normally into this sort of thing was listening to it on spotify.

well, LOTS of pillaging. Straight up looting almost. Kinda reminds me how some TV commercial music is trying to evoke the memory of a pop song/melody/style, but not quite directly riffing it due to copyright violation.

This is definitely being promoted through different channels - 6music are giving it a lot of attention and I've not heard them bother with Lindstrom much.

Part of me wishes I was hearing this whole thing for the first time, Inspector Norse would feel like the natural peak of the whole thing rather than the result of an EP awkwardly shunted into a half-finished album.

yeah it's not confusing so much given how accessible it is (i guess real life is no cool just came out too early) but a bit annoying given that i don't think it's half of what terje's capable of. it's sort of field-esque in its crossover to annoying people who display little interest in anything else like it (look at half the people in this thread who i've never seen in any ilm dance thread ever!)

Yeah the dance music threads are tedious because they're by and large just people posting Youtube links, which is okay to browse (although I hate hearing music like that, especially dance music) but don't assume that people aren't interacting with them just because they're not posting.

Ugh we don't need to do this every time something that isn't straight-up indie becomes popular.

I mean most cosmic disco (including Lindstrom) has minimal interest in promoting itself to people outside its main audience, although Lindstrom has obviously had mad Pitchfork love for years that's partly because of word-of-mouth. Whether that's the labels or the artists or both I don't know.

Like, when Delorean Dynamite and Inspector Norse have been played on the radio, people's ears in my office (people who aren't really that into music at all) pricked up, the same would probably happen in the case of I Feel Space as well.

Same here. If anyone wants to direct me to some other albums that are similar to this or Lindstrom, I'd really appreciate that. They are two of my favourite artists around and I'd love to hear something else similar. It's a little intimidating to go on specialist threads sometimes and as Matt DC pointed out going through a bunch of YouTube links can sometimes be a bit much.

I would not agree with this at all. Different chords, different melody, different rhythm, different bassline, different tempo. "Inspiration" seems about right.

FWIW I like dance music but I have limited occasion to listen to it, since I don't really go to clubs. The only time it kind of makes sense is my occasional driving alone or maybe cleaning with headphones on or something. Whereas this record is dance-ish music I can put on in the office.

I played Strandbar for my wife and when it got to the piano lick she was like "how can something so simple be so good?"

i slept on it at the time but the lovelock album (steve moore doing cosmic disco) is excellent.

maybe try the computer incarnations for world peace comps too? the first volume is full of classic cosmic cuts and the second features newer artists, including a fun collab between terje and prins thomas

maybe the secret circuit album from last year too? (tactile galactics) that one might be more acid than cosmic i guess

I have the first two Milky Disco compilations which contain some great stuff. I actually have that Gatto Fritto album. Someone (possibly you?) Nominated Beachy Head on the 2011 tracks list and I fell on love with it. That's easily the best song on there but the rest is really enjoyable.
