Odd, when I was in Washington a couple of years ago, that obelisk momument didn't look quite that big...

This looks like what happens after the oceans rise and a massive engineering project put a little bit of every city on the only patch of dry soil left.

it's their eighth album. and they are cornballs who must clobber us over the head with everything. (i say that as a Grohl fan.)

"Fun ft. Chris Brown"

I reject this one just on its face. There is NO WAY you can have fun with Chris Brown.

Also, I love there's a song called "Day Drinking" on the same album that features a song from an animated children's movie.

Is this a straight-up After Dark rip or was the After Dark cover based on something else?

death in Skegness (seandalai), Thursday, 4 December 2014 23:10 (nine years ago) link

I think the After Dark cover was definitely mimicking an aesthetic, but was original art.

damn with the exception of peter matthew bauer, swans, and maybe glass animals (the text on that one is really bad but the artwork is interesting) i think just about all of these are uniformly terrible album covers

It's 2015, but god damn I love the new Egyptrixx cover:

I mean, it's just monochrome John Chamberlain by way of Classical Curves but it works, I think.

haha that is so great

marcos, Monday, 15 December 2014 16:54 (nine years ago) link

if it was a photo it would be some sub-corny-indie garbage but as a painting i think it rules. btw i have no idea who it even is

marcos, Monday, 15 December 2014 17:06 (nine years ago) link

I haven't seen it in person but I suspect Ghettoville is all about the packaging, ppl on discogs complaining about how cheap and rough it is and how it damages the records

brimstead, Monday, 15 December 2014 19:40 (nine years ago) link

i guess a million noise acts probably already wrote the book w/r/t "sculptural" packaging, though

brimstead, Monday, 15 December 2014 19:42 (nine years ago) link

lion lady = the cover art for Single's Rea, painted by their labelmate Javier Aramburu from the band Family. the rough American equivalent would be Devendra Banhart painting Joanna Newsom's face on a wolf's body, whereupon Joanna gushed about how "it's so empowering!" and "wolf is my spirit animal!"

it's very much a corny indie gesture, but I like it

An LP and 12" cover from Headlock, ambient guy on the Sci-Fi & Fantasy label that's released stuff from Lotic and Max McFerren (MCFERRDOG on 1080p):

There's an album cover I've been looking around for on these threads and other album cover lists but I can't find it.
It's from sometime in the past two years. A close-up of a guy's head with his mouth open, covered in shiny paints of different colours.
