or less.

Moka, Tuesday, 13 January 2015 06:50 (nine years ago) link

Lit had another song, though. Pamela Anderson on the video I think. That one has been years since I last heard it.

Yeah, what was that Jimmy Ray thing for? An 'introducing' record then no follow up?

A bit like 'Return of the mac' where we didn't know he'd been here before.

I guess this is the Pick a band that is known for a few well known hits and then pick one of the others.

Yesterday was doing some 'list my cd collection for putting on discogs' and found "Room on the 3rd floor" McFly.

So, that one.

Mark G, Tuesday, 13 January 2015 08:22 (nine years ago) link

Not nineties, but hey.

Ok, "Dark Therapy" Echobelly, one of the others I found.

Anyone from NYC know the building in which Dog's Eye View are playing in that video? Don't recognize the song at all but the whole thing was filmed right in my neighborhood at the time. That room is the only thing I can't place though the view indicates it's the same location.

Drinking In LA is such a weird song. And by song I mean layers of radio chatter and a trickily-worded chorus. Still great.

My favorite forgotten 90s hit:

Whale - Hobo Humpin' Slobo Babe

I was weirdly fascinated with this for about 18 months. The video was in heavy rotation on MTV Europe in early 1994, and stood out mightily next to the rest of the playlist (Dylan's "Blood In My Eye" was also big on MTV Europe for some reason).

Later, couldn't find any Whale records in the US until We Care came out (which was shockingly good, and Xgau loved it, iirc). Saw them live in 1998 opening for Tricky, who they blew off the stage.

Jane Child - Don't Wanna Fall In Love. This late 80's/early 90's production I used to abhor is now all I want to listen to. Gated drums and Saved By The Bell synths....mmmmmmm.

I miss the 90s but luckily all the young ppl are reliving it through fashion so I can just put on my headphones and pretend.

I look at this thread and I feel like the answer should actually be "Steal My Sunshine," but I don't know why I feel that so strongly.

Ye Mad Puffin, Wednesday, 17 June 2015 01:10 (nine years ago) link

That's seriously one of the greatest songs ever and probably in my top 10 and not at all in an ironic way.

Benson and the Jets (ENBB), Wednesday, 17 June 2015 02:11 (nine years ago) link

yeah, round these parts NOBODY forgot "Steal My Sunshine"

I *did* forget "Dream", and I'm glad sleepingbag reminded me, because holy lol trip-hop crossover hits

Geggy Tah - Whoever You Are
Gin Blossoms - Allison Road
Natalie Merchant - Kind and Generous

Possibly Merril Bainbridge's Mouth, I'm not sure how forgotten that one is at this point.
