it sounds like v fun goon stuff, interesting beat/production, also a trae the truth guest spot - but i figure since it's lupe, it has to be some sort of stealth attack on trap-rap or some similarly didactic shit...right?

the Warm Brew album - Ghetto Beach Boyz is out
really great so far! cool dirtbag LA stoner vibes
Dom Kennedy guests and I guess if I had to compare it to anyone it would be him
i dunno, maybe a little more like street version of Pharcyde in places?
loving it

Warm Brew signed to Dom Kennedy's new label opm i think. They had another tape 'the ride' I liked alright a couple years back but this new one sounds better
― Spottie, Friday, 23 January 2015 18:05 (nine years ago) link
ah ok yeah that makes sense then, def that same kinda lackadasical vibe i like about Dom
like ultimately i wanted to like Odd Future cuz of the dirtbag skater cali vibe but those kids are just too wound up for me, they like Eminem too much

though i guess that could be a potential problem because like i'm sure dj quik or like e-40 are the same age-ish and ppl would probably care abt them

yeah i see no reason why this thread can't be inclusive of old rappers. a lot of interesting things that happen in rap these days involve guys after they turn 35 and fall off the mainstream radar.

sold 49k

it sometimes feels like radio hits in rap music have an inverse relationship to selling albums now
this is dovetailing for me w/ some dude's tweets about travis scott headlining a tour with young thug
has the mindset that acceptance into the mainstream is a signal not of artistic quality but the opposite, with the inverse being true for artists like badass (or travis scott) who can't break a radio hit to save their lives but are treated as serious artists

what's the silent majority and why do they spend money
yeah i think that's it xp
and to your next point, the ones that spend money on rap albums are probs the ones that grew up spending money on albums.
