Any of you have organization suggestions? Right now, having dropped the tracks into iTunes, I have pretty much have it as an 8 hour album whose tracks are largely alphabetical. That is, there is no formal track one or track x, so it almost doesn't matter, right?
― Josh in Chicago, Friday, 30 January 2015 19:10 (nine years ago) link
There seems to be a vague chronological order, but only vague. I'm organizing in terms of how tracks were uploaded, for stupid simplicity.
― Ned Raggett, Friday, 30 January 2015 19:12 (nine years ago) link
yeah I would love to have a list of how these came out chronologically, I believe they were in order more or less?

i.e. Ned OTM
― brain floss mix (sleeve), Friday, 30 January 2015 19:13 (nine years ago) link
I doubt even RDJ knows the precise order in which these were created
― example (crüt), Friday, 30 January 2015 19:14 (nine years ago) link
i have the track numbers correspond to the order in which they were uploaded while keeping the numbers in the title (i.e. "28 organ"). still not sure what i want to tag the album name as though, learning towards just "user48736353001"
― diamonddave85 (diamonddave85), Friday, 30 January 2015 19:15 (nine years ago) link
also can i vote for this in the 2015 albums poll?
i found this when I was trying to work out the order last night. they've ordered them into different tapes but i to keep it as one big playlist.

I fully approve of that system. Dunno what went into it, but any method that breaks this into 45 minute chunks is fine with me.

yeah, I'll just use this, thankyouverymuch

My guess is yes, considering Gigi Masin placed in the 2014 albums poll
― octobeard, Saturday, 31 January 2015 12:18 (nine years ago) link
You should parcel out a set of songs or two over the next several polls.

Oh I'm fully expecting it to be fake.
― Ned Raggett, Sunday, 1 February 2015 06:28 (nine years ago) link
yeah just picking and choosing some of it sounds real Aphexy, some really not, but really I think the fact that it's tagged "braindance" tells me this is a fake
― Abstinence Hawk (frogbs), Sunday, 1 February 2015 06:39 (nine years ago) link
I'm already seeing plenty of arguments either way. I don't care myself, it's either a hilarious joke or him fucking with us again and either way I'm entertained. I even paid for those two releases for the hell of it.
― Ned Raggett, Sunday, 1 February 2015 06:44 (nine years ago) link
lots of fakes have been coming out, it's annoying

From WATMM, 1.2 GB (110 tracks d/l from Soundcloud - i.e. 320 versions - plus rips of the two that were only up briefly):

― soyrev, Sunday, 1 February 2015 12:25 (nine years ago) link
Debating whether or not I can justify being a little annoyed that after spending forever tagging and numbering and arranging all those tracks, the 320 versions appears and I have to do it again. Leaning ... not justified.
― Josh in Chicago, Sunday, 1 February 2015 14:56 (nine years ago) link
The guy on WATMM who uploaded the link in groovypanda's post says they're tagged:
manmower, on 01 Feb 2015 - 06:46 AM, said: Finished organizing my files, and I've uploaded them in case anyone wants them, free account though so I don't know how much bandwidth/how many downloads I'm allowed: https://mega.co.nz/#...Fk1r9K2TO1kb4Yo 112 tracks (110 downloaded from Soundcloud + the 128 kbps streaming versions of the 2 that were only briefly available). I've left the filenames unchanged, but tags are as follows. Artist: AFX (it's the hashtag he added to nearly every track and I thought it unnecessary to make exceptions for the couple of aphex/pbod/... ones). Album: user48736353001 Track number: Order they were uploaded Title: As on Soundcloud (so sometimes different from the file name) I also added his comments and embedded the artwork for each track.

So this has been a fascinating exercise in what really makes an Aphex Twin album. I guess it's possible/probable that each officially released collection really has been just that: a selection of tracks he simply decided to collect together at that given moment before moving on to the next thing. Like, I suppose it's possible SAWII is exactly what it says, and could have easily been twice as long (or totally different) on a different day.
― Josh in Chicago, Sunday, 1 February 2015 15:34 (nine years ago) link
There are very few ( maybe two ) negligible tracks in all this. The rest are terrific. Release of the year so far for me and it may be hard to beat.
― Acid Hose (Capitaine Jay Vee), Sunday, 1 February 2015 15:37 (nine years ago) link
I'd like to see someone try to break these up into 'album-sized' chunks based on the era - seems to be a lot of 88-91 stuff on here
only been able to listen to like 10 or so of these so far but they're really good, especially for stuff that's just one in a hundred archive tracks. so far I've enjoyed them more than I have the stuff on the lost Caustic Window LP. listening to "22 Pearls" now, it's more beat-heavy than most of the stuff on SAW 85-92, but absolutely gorgeous, wow
