the new tink single is the first song i've really loved by her - fits into my general preference of rap tink to r&b tink but it's the first time i've really got her persona and what she has to say and why she's worth getting excited about

oooof that j cole verse on "planes" is so so bad

not much of anything to ruin though, agree that the song is pretty blah

the live debut of "Planes" with Chance The Rapper and his band sounded awesome but it turned out that a lot of that was from the horns and stuff that the band added to the song and the studio track sounds nothing like that.

every word and ad lib and intonation absolutely nailed for maximum impact

entire album is roleplay and theatre but she's so present and inside the roles at every moment

I'm at the student radio station now and the kid who does the "alternative R&B" show on Saturdays is blasting Dawn Richard and wondering if he can play the Jazmine in a couple days. "No one else down here is," I told him.

Yeah, it's one of the best written-through albums of any genre I've heard in months.

saw ledisi, raheem devaughn, and leela james in boston the other night. it was a great show — ledisi has had bronchitis for a bunch of this tour but she sounded incredible, especially on the tracks from last year's album (she released an 'unplugged'-style EP earlier this year). raheem devaughn was very playful and sexy; i guess i missed that he had a new record out last month. i'm giving it a first spin now.

i wish there were more r&b concerts in boston. ledisi at one point told the audience they needed to buy more records in order to make that happen, and i was like PLEASE YES

DC gets plenty of shows, but they can be pricey
