"which record shop pipecock?

-- 31g"

http://720records.com/

we used to be in east liberty up until 2 weeks ago, our grand re-opening in the Jerry's Records compound will be March 8th. talk about lucking into the best spot in the city to sell records!

"pipecock nothing on that myspace is anywhere near as good as 'say yeah'

-- deej"

it all depends on what youre looking for. if you want good hiphop, armstead brown is your man. if you want some nonsense, then that wiz joint is right up your alley. that shit is barely even listenable, what a fucking joke of a song. it makes me mad because the guy could obviously do some much better shit.

i can't actually think of a jazz record that is embarassing enough to make a direct comparison, but imagine Charlie Hunter covering "YMCA" and i think you could almost get there.

This song is great and the bit in the video where he's on the moon is lolz.

It takes talent to take a half-decent trance song and turn it into a decent rap beat. I'm inspired.

i'm glad we all agree that this song is the shit

J0rdan S., Saturday, 1 March 2008 20:31 (sixteen years ago) link

I've always hated the original mostly because of that annoying synth riff and it really isn't that much better with someone rapping on it.

strongohulkington, Monday, 3 March 2008 17:12 (sixteen years ago) link

and if anyone could shed some light on how and when crime mob became ravers thatd be delightful

jhøshea, Monday, 3 March 2008 22:25 (sixteen years ago) link

Dear Simon Reynolds,

Please do not use this as an excuse to write more articles about the synergy of your days taking Ecstasy in the 80s and modern rap music.

Thanks,

The World.

When "Sexyback" and T.I.'s "Why You Wanna" came out, I remember saying to a friend, "funny, it sounds like rap and r'n'b producers are drawing influences from 90's trance and house now..." So now it's become a full-on phenomenon?

Tuomas, Tuesday, 4 March 2008 00:41 (sixteen years ago) link

dude

deej, Tuesday, 4 March 2008 01:47 (sixteen years ago) link

Lil Jon's been making trance-hop for years.

Gavin, Tuesday, 4 March 2008 02:20 (sixteen years ago) link

I wouldn't say "trance-hop", per se, but rave-hop, definitely.

"Say Yeah" is growing on me, but I still reserve the right to be all grumpy and old-mannish about the sample.

I second the Twista-on-"Sandstorm" motion.

The Reverend, Tuesday, 4 March 2008 06:10 (sixteen years ago) link

say yeah is dope dude just give in

deej, Tuesday, 4 March 2008 06:15 (sixteen years ago) link
