I keep up on nothing, I think my listening is pretty much concentrated on a few things, then I see some other things live and fall into those
― mh, Tuesday, 31 March 2015 19:24 (nine years ago) link
I dont keep up with anything, only what i find in the woods
that remix of model 500 is ok nowhere near the original or maurizio mix
― saer, Tuesday, 31 March 2015 19:33 (nine years ago) link
ok BUT nowhere near
i think the whole remix album is wonderful, maybe the best deepchord thing outside of the linkwood "miles away" remixes.
ekoplekz not my thing at all.. i'd be down to listen to some ilm-er curated best-of, though.

New Ekoplekz is kinda early-IDM sounding and I'm finding it less interesting tbh. Bring back lo-fi retrofuturisms.
Digging this though

"Charity" sounds like a low-tech 1980 remix of a Cabaret Voltaire song from 2x45.

This new Michael Vallera record kinda sounds like outtakes from Seefeel's "Succour" with the tempo dialed way, way down:

Raime's new album is very good. It's by no means dance music but it reminds me a lot of the most stripped back dread UK dance tracks of the last 25 years

New Kaumwald EP is pretty cool, definitely Opal Tapes-appropriate (scudding beats, uneasy ambiance, lots of subtle weird touches you only notice on headphones)

― mh 😏, Tuesday, 1 November 2016 14:37 (seven years ago) link
I like Grebenstein. I'm not too sure about this new Raime, though, it sounds like a tribute to Photek circa The Hidden Camera. In fact it just makes me want to listen to The Hidden Camera.

i've been loving the raime album so much this winter (after initially dismissing it). play it almost every morning

I loved the EPs & Quarter Turn to distraction, but somehow didn't engage with Tooth. I need to go back to it.

I think I posted this Rorqual album on another thread, but it's probably worth sharing here for it's creeping, oozy ambience with occasional leaden beats.
http://woodbetweenworlds.bandcamp.com/album/sei-ci
It kind of reminds me of the electronic stuff on Sigma Editions (Parmentier and Minit specifically) through a darker lens.

this tv show on TNT, Good Behavior, keeps using Raime music as ominous soundtrack music and it’s passed cognitive dissonance into nodding to dark grooves

Listening to old Hecate EPs and when she wasn't going 300 bpm breakcore she kinda had a proto-this-thread thing happening. On "The Payback" w/Kareem the track "Medusal" has that clanging drums and dubby reverb thing happening.

There's a lot of stuff on Kareem's Zhark label worth checking out, actually, if you like crunchy beats, dark ambient or harder industrial techno.

So, farewell then Blackest Ever Black. As the label is no more I thought I'd out the fact I had a secret project on there & released a 10" & an album under the alias Tomorrow The Rain Will Fall Upwards a few years ago. xp Quarter Turns was so good. Lately I've been listening to a lot of Carla dal Forno and the most recent Bremen album. And they reissued that Caroline K album a while back. I'm one of the few people who liked Jabu I guess.

I guess BEB slowly morphed into Low Company: https://www.lowcompany.co.uk
The shop is killer and the weekly mailouts are highly recommended.
Very strong output on the house imprint also. Particularly that Brannten Schnüre LP:https://www.discogs.com/label/1450606-Low-Company
