If I am a fuck who likes Farewell from Pink the best, which LP do I listen to next?
― caek, Thursday, 18 October 2007 23:49 (sixteen years ago) link
Akuma no Uta.

feedbacker is fuckin huge but i like blackout on pink and a lot of the faster thrashin tracks with the dueling leads pump me up
voted feedbacker though

The 2 albums with Merzbow are missing too. But the live album is shit anyway. Terrible sound on it. I doubt anyone would've voted for either of them anyway. I don't see Vein getting (m)any. The album with Sunn o))) I do enjoy a lot yet there's plenty who don't so I'll be interested to see if it gets any votes.

BIG HOOS, that's what I meant when i posted "Akuma No Uta" below caek's post.

Not that I was voting for it.
But I think i did vote for it anyway.
right, i gathered, just seconding.

The songs on Heavy Rocks and Akuma No Uta are better than the songs of a similar style on Pink. So You have to check out Heavy Rocks and Akuma No Uta.

exactly.

I'm glad someone agrees.

So… Nothing from them this year? How odd.
(I've only got Feedbacker, Pink and Akuma No Uta, and I think I like Akuma most).
― I eat cannibals, Friday, 19 October 2007 02:10 (sixteen years ago) link
Try Heavy Rocks then. But really, the early stuff is untouchable. They've released so much in the past few years the quality control has suffered. There has been lots of ep's in the past year. Another lp with merzbow is out next week I think.

Sun-baked Snow Cave is pretty cool, actually. I don't listen to it often, but when I'm in the mood it works.

Are we going to have a shock winner? Will justice be done and Heavy Rocks and Akuma No Uta beat Pink? Or is it a landslide for Pink?

I predict Soundtrack from Film “Mabuta no Ura” will get 0 votes. Solomon Volume 1 deserves a vote. That's one I don't own as I dont have $100+ to spend on one lp. 2/3 were quite good too actually.

how was the show? i went to see Caribou next door, then caught Boris for like 4 songs (door guy let me in for free!) - they are much more "epic" live than i imagined, all the smoke everywhere, and the posturing; it was almost like they were on stage playing Guitar Hero to a Boris record
(not my thing i guess)
― stephen, Saturday, 20 October 2007 14:41 (sixteen years ago) link
akuma no uta not winning is bullshit
― latebloomer, Saturday, 20 October 2007 16:33 (sixteen years ago) link
I saw them in Bristol back in July. It was excellent and, yes, pretty epic and stagey, even in the small, oddly shaped bar they were playing. Drummer stage diving off the stack into the crowd during the final feedback squall was a particular highlight.
― caek, Saturday, 20 October 2007 16:47 (sixteen years ago) link
Glasgow was the only gig of the tour where Atsuo didn't stage dive! We did get a thank you from Wata though. The last track they played, Flood, really is the best 40 mins of a concert ever though.
Hari saw Boris play england the year before (no scottish date) and I have friends who travelled to leeds a few years back when they played Feedbacker.

i missed this thread the first time, and may not have voted anyway since i've only heard three of the records.
but between 'pink' and 'heavy rocks', both of which i own, 'heavy rocks' seems to stand out as the superior release. in fact, it sort of feels like all the boris i need. i much prefer the slower grooving stuff to the faster material though.
