they definitely wouldn't have gotten near him had he said this shit a week earlier

a couple people I recognized from the festival had commented on his facebook page prior to all this happening thanking him for playing, several of whom are gay

obviously mr. walls here is clueless

given this dude has been touring the clubs of Europe nonstop for the last few years you would think he would have at the absolute least picked up enough social awareness to moderate his internal thoughts

As someone much more familiar with the minimal house world than I, would you say there really is that much undiscovered stuff that he can buy like 20 records a week of undiscovered gems. I feel like that article is taking a certain amount of exaggeratory license...

He does say that sometimes he's lucky and other times not.

On the one hand i doubt it, on the other hand the number of records i find where its the only release the label ever did that, or sometimes the opposite, some label with hundred of releases of garbage you'd never think about wading through and look there it is, a little cabin tucked away behind a rock

It depends on perception but I listen to a lot of mixed when working and also when helping dredge the canal to keep the flow of water even and there are a lot of great records ive no clue what they are or when they are from

Production-wise, the palette is strikingly non-specific, shades of tech-house in the rolling beat, a synth that sounds tactile without ever feeling retrofitted or nostalgic, and that swirling, sinister bass that never drops as much as it just broods before disappearing. In the most basic sense, this is a track that sucks the air out of the place, replacing whatever atmosphere was previously there with one of its own. Fascinating, mesmeric, and effortlessly cool.

i guess the fatima track is okay too ... there's not that much stuff on the list that's actively bad ("gosh" comes to mind) just a lot of stuff that's fairly unremarkable to my ears

I looked at the list and it looks very similar to a blueprint I saw last year of a new housing development, each record like the arrival of another mcmansion crushing all wildlife before it, soon we will have nothing left. It looks like the blue steam engine also knows the pain of these sounds proliferating where once was serenity and geniality

They came with their lists and their sounds and their capitalism, destroying not just a vibey sunday afternoon but hope itself

I think they're overhyped but they've put out some good stuff, like LIES or White Material,

I've definitely heard of it and remember checking some releases out last year, but nothing grabbed me.

White Material is pretty solid, but the very definition of over-hyped. Kinda unfortunate name as well.

menacing moody dubby post-industrial / minimal synth / dark techno, on the blackest ever black label, i luv the smudgy synths combined with pummeling techno beats.
