two months pass...

A couple publications are saying Late Nights is scheduled to come out Friday, but they aren't sourcing where they got that date from

Evan R, Tuesday, 1 December 2015 20:03 (eight years ago) link

when i saw he had released another single i was like "at this point i think that's enough singles to be an album"

HYPERLINK TO RAP GENIUS (BradNelson), Tuesday, 1 December 2015 20:06 (eight years ago) link

This one sounds closest to something from Late Nights: The Mixtape. Not a bad thing

Evan R, Tuesday, 1 December 2015 20:10 (eight years ago) link

That would be "Oui", right?

Definitely out Friday.

Andy K, Tuesday, 1 December 2015 22:13 (eight years ago) link

"Oui" sounds great on the radio but "Pass Dat" is incredible and really sets my expectations high for this album

just knocked me cold and left me on the sidewalk (some dude), Tuesday, 1 December 2015 23:05 (eight years ago) link

agreed

Listen to my homeboy Fantano (D-40), Wednesday, 2 December 2015 03:10 (eight years ago) link

yeah, jeremih is one place where the three of our tastes really intersect, this is great

Eugene Goostman (forksclovetofu), Wednesday, 2 December 2015 03:50 (eight years ago) link

"pass dat" wasn't on the tracklist they released so i guess that's not a thing anymore

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 2 December 2015 04:20 (eight years ago) link

song with ty is great

J0rdan S., Friday, 4 December 2015 05:27 (eight years ago) link

"pass dat" through "drank" is sick

J0rdan S., Friday, 4 December 2015 05:47 (eight years ago) link

well what do you know, FINALLY.

Eugene Goostman (forksclovetofu), Friday, 4 December 2015 17:14 (eight years ago) link

It's wonderful

Evan R, Friday, 4 December 2015 17:15 (eight years ago) link

was bummed for my train ride to end this morning before it got to finish it.

(•̪●) (carne asada), Friday, 4 December 2015 17:25 (eight years ago) link

oh my god this album is fucking awesome

the tune was space, Sunday, 6 December 2015 18:53 (eight years ago) link

easily one of the best albums i've heard this year

if you took out "give no fuks"/"feel like phil"/"royalty" and cut the tracklist down to 12 songs i would consider this a nearly perfect record. every other song ranges from good to incredible.

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 8 December 2015 04:54 (eight years ago) link

really great

mingalaba, Tuesday, 8 December 2015 05:25 (eight years ago) link

im ok w/ GNF & FLP but "Royalty" has gotta go

Listen to my homeboy Fantano (D-40), Tuesday, 8 December 2015 07:23 (eight years ago) link

thinking this is ultimately p good (unexpectedly so from my pov) with fitful lucid periods of inspiration. would have liked to go higher cos u can see almost touch a special album, or what a special album would be like, thru the party smoke but even with rejigging i think it might still just come up a couple songs short. a wonderful extendo ep for sure however

probably that's the cup half empty view idk. give it a few weeks

obv agree that the rap karaoke bloc (lol is thugger too pricey now or was jer like fuckit yo i got this) carries the blame with big sean saboteur in chief, constant low key struggle to fully recover its thread after that

'remember' is my guy tho d-_-b

r|t|c, Tuesday, 8 December 2015 08:57 (eight years ago) link

vintage twista verse on this

tpp, Tuesday, 8 December 2015 09:17 (eight years ago) link

ya. that one had me wishing 8ball & mjg were still in the popular rolodex

r|t|c, Tuesday, 8 December 2015 09:39 (eight years ago) link

this does 'sexy' kind of effortlessly IMO...morseo than the ty album

btw in tyworld i think the wiz & ty EP is low key his classic this year? curious abt RTC's opinion on that (I know it sounds un-promising)

Listen to my homeboy Fantano (D-40), Tuesday, 8 December 2015 10:01 (eight years ago) link

are people into jeremih also into bryson tiller ?

maybe i'm just a sexy dinosaur but this seems an interesting if not eccentric criteria for this that hadnt overly occurred to me. i guess it would successfully come under modern 'x n chill' standards but

can't see how ty even comes into the equation beyond a general stripclub leer

on the YouTube playlist one slipped into the other and I didn't notice

constant low key struggle to fully recover its thread after that

last three songs might be the album's best stretch though. "paradise" omg

i had forgotten j cole's verse on "planez" ;_;

lex pretend, Tuesday, 8 December 2015 14:48 (eight years ago) link

What does everybody think of the Rihanna soundalike on "I Did"?

Evan R, Tuesday, 8 December 2015 15:27 (eight years ago) link

j cole's vers on planez is a contender for worst rap verse on a r&b song ever.

*verse

human and working on getting beer (longneck), Tuesday, 8 December 2015 15:40 (eight years ago) link

is there a version without that?

Spottie, Tuesday, 8 December 2015 15:55 (eight years ago) link

not an official one but someone made an edit w/o cole's verse lol

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lMxrTfsSdjU

it would be easily one of my singles of the year without that garbage

dyl, Tuesday, 8 December 2015 17:35 (eight years ago) link

oh boy do i love this record

HYPERLINK TO RAP GENIUS (BradNelson), Tuesday, 8 December 2015 18:58 (eight years ago) link

"Impatience" is fantastic

RAP GAME SHANI DAVIS (Raymond Cummings), Tuesday, 8 December 2015 20:31 (eight years ago) link

I want to love this but I keep imagining Kehlani singing these tunes. All those guest appearances on shitty records destroyed my good will.

the original beach house was totally sexual tho ... songs like "DTF" and "Forbidden Fruit" explicitly so

This album I don't hear Bryson Tiller so much...he sounds like Drake. This is spare in a way that's more Sam Cooke 'night beat'

Listen to my homeboy Fantano (D-40), Tuesday, 8 December 2015 20:57 (eight years ago) link

this guy makes the Migos more palatable than they've been for me for some time.

good lordy did this album flop remarkably

i have discovered that "oui" is the best song ever

HYPERLINK TO RAP GENIUS (BradNelson), Monday, 14 December 2015 18:16 (eight years ago) link

i heard it in a bodega last night and i was singing it and the guy at the counter was also singing it and it was magical

HYPERLINK TO RAP GENIUS (BradNelson), Monday, 14 December 2015 18:18 (eight years ago) link

xxp Not suprising considering the lack of promotion and the three year delay. I wonder if it was ready to drop when Don't Tell 'Em was on the radio every five seconds.

thom yorke state of mind (voodoo chili), Monday, 14 December 2015 18:33 (eight years ago) link

honestly im not sure it would have sold then.

jeremih is a great example of an artist for whom people know his songs but have no idea who he is
