They are in my top 10 in my quarterly :) It's just Skeletal Lamping is pretty hard going - as much as I really like it - a week of non stop listening to it was enough for a while.

Ah, fuck it, why not. I'm meant to be writing an essay so any procrastination at all will do.

Mine serves as a salutary reminder that, no matter how much interesting, unusual, obscure or otherwise out-there shit I listen to, I remain at heart a highly predictable 33-year-old Glasgow-based miserablist from the north-west of England. Who really, really likes Trans Am.

I'm at one with that, though, so hey.

And you only got into Trans Am a few years ago at the request of another scottish person.

Did I? *Thinks* ... no, hang on, I got into Trans Am at ATP (a few years ago, right enough!) when they blew my fucking head off. Now, that doesn't mean Another Scottish Person hadn't mentioned them, but it took that gig to open my eyes. And ears. And mind. Etc :)

I was listening to "Red Line" heavily this week Grimly. It'll be showing up in my stats quite soon.

I remember getting the 4.30pm train to glasgow on a bank holiday monday to look for that cd the day it came out. Missing/Tower/Virgin didn't have it and i went into HMV and they checked their computers and said they had it in but hadnt went through the boxes yet and the guy went through the back and searched for it. I had a good journey back home listening to it on my discman.

Pleasantly surprised at the No.9 entry.

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Wednesday, 15 April 2009 14:36 (fifteen years ago) link

I've still not heard it (Mastodon) but need to get that sorted, stat. I guess I've contributed in no small way to the #1 slot. And #5. And #7, oddly. And #10, although I'm not proud of that.

a tiny, faltering megaphone (grimly fiendish), Wednesday, 15 April 2009 14:42 (fifteen years ago) link

which 10?

a hoy hoy, Wednesday, 15 April 2009 14:44 (fifteen years ago) link

ugh you'd expect aspie ilxors, of all people, to tag lindstrøm & prins thomas correctly

those charts are not convincing me to rejoin that group

lex pretend, Wednesday, 15 April 2009 14:46 (fifteen years ago) link

person pitch at #8? seriously

sonderangerbot, Wednesday, 15 April 2009 14:47 (fifteen years ago) link

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Wednesday, 15 April 2009 14:47 (fifteen years ago) link

he listened to far more dodgier stuff lately btw ;)

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Wednesday, 15 April 2009 14:48 (fifteen years ago) link

Yeh, shit, sorry: meant Doves. What a fucking crock of shit. And I blame ILM for making me think it might have been half-decent, against my better judgment.

a tiny, faltering megaphone (grimly fiendish), Wednesday, 15 April 2009 15:02 (fifteen years ago) link

a hoy hoy, Wednesday, 15 April 2009 15:47 (fifteen years ago) link

not by enough. and i'd feel ~contaminated~ by proximity to animal collective, radiohead et al

lex pretend, Wednesday, 15 April 2009 16:36 (fifteen years ago) link

does it really bother you that much to be in a group with people who like radiohead and animal collective?

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Wednesday, 15 April 2009 16:50 (fifteen years ago) link

especially if you are hanging out on a message board with said ppl

hard truth & bubblegum

The-Reverend (rev), Wednesday, 15 April 2009 22:15 (fifteen years ago) link

might as well reiterate that 50 listeners of radiohead or animal co out of a group of nearly 700 members hardly constitute a hivemind.

This was the same rationale behind Tony Blair hanging out with the neocons and look where that got us.
