Three of their albums are pretty dull, but one is fucking spectacular

Purely on musical merits, Fallen is an excellent record front to back, Belus has its moments but too much filler. The rest of contemporary Burzum is extremely uneven.

Definitely listen to Absu and Esoteric.

With Darkspace I'm firmly in the II camp.

I think they got better with each release but a lot of folks think III is best

Yes it is. Darkspace III didn't do much for me but I remember thinking the later material was good. Didn't know it well enough to vote for it, though.

That Glaciation album is quite cool, but I think I settled on finding it a little too subtly atmospheric for my tastes in the end. I will add Primordial to my list!

Yeah I see what you mean. I consider the last ambient-ish track to be just a nice way to settle down after the epic "real" tracks.
