Agreed. If the whole album was as good as the second half it would come in ahead of Love/Hate - instead I feel it ranks slightly behind it.

its funny cuz songs like 'mr. yeah' and 'right side' dont feel like big important highlights, they just feel like really truly great album tracks. if that makes any sense

really want to write about this album for a publication of some kind

i always skip the first 3 songs and sometimes the first two ballads but i think it's more of a sequencing issue than song quality

i sometimes start at 'love vs money', just cuz i caned the singles so much as standalone tracks when they emerged, but the first half is absolutely crucial to the second half and pretty much as good - listening all the way through really pays off too. it's perfectly sequenced, really.

Am I the only noticing he's got some twangy vocals going on in parts of "Rockin That Shit" and "Take U Home 2 My Mama"? Where did that come from?

like what lines would you say are twangy on "Rockin'"?

i always thought i was just hearing things but right at the 1 min mark of "rockin that shit" after he says "nothin i can saayyy.." the beat drops out and you hear this little blip and it's the same sound that happens when you get an IM on ichat

fwiw love vs money was supposed to come out last december so i'm sure love king will come out next march

yeah i think w/ mid-level rap/R&B artists now delays are such an inevitability that now guys start talking up their next album as soon as the last one's out and pretend they're on a Plies-style release schedule, just to compensate for the fact that it'll be out at least 3-6 months later than they say it will.

i love his first album like a son & i live in the chi but i dont really expect much from a live show & am not about to pay for tix to see it

yeah i don't know if i'd come to see him by himself just because his live vocals can be pretty damn rough, but keyshia/dream/keri/bobby v is a pretty good bill.

Funny, I've played the album at least 20 times but couldn't make it through the Lil Jon track once.

it's a great club track - it feels weird to listen to it after "kellys 12 play" but i always thought that it was equally as good as it was weird

it's so slooowwww! and it begins badly but by the time it gets into the the-dream-as-barbershop-ensemble stuff i really like it.

hey why did ne-yo win this? im not saying this because i think he's the worse of the two (which i do), but rather there seems to be alot of people on ilm who like the-dream, like alot. i was surprised to see it on so many "best albums of the year so far" lists so i downloaded it and now it's on mine. is it just me and there are only six of you, or do the lot just prefer ne-yo?

a lot of ppl jumped on around the time of the year end polls. before that it was just a core group. read thru the thread

yeah back when this poll was started dream's first album had only been out for three months, had little to know press or promo etc - most ppl jumped on way later and im pretty sure he'd win this poll if it was held again
