So, I was reminded of this by this poll, but in college I downloaded a song mislabeled as Karate that clearly wasn't; instead it was some spazzy British synth-pop thing. But it was really good. So I pulled it up, hoping maybe Shazam could identify it. But nothing.
Turns out there are at least a few dozen people in the same boat, nobody's ever been able to identify what it is
http://benicetobears.com/2016/09/14/nobody-has-been-able-to-identify-this-song-for-15-years-autobahnkarate/http://www.backofthecerealbox.com/2010/01/rest-of-my-life-i-will-always-drive-and.html
Maddening.

I also love Unwound but couldn't vote for it. Same with 3 of the 4 Converge albums on here (and I nominated 2 of them). Had to vote for Jane Doe but it felt wrong having 4 on there out of 30.

I left off a couple Rainer Maria albums that were definitely worthy of top 50 status, but I couldn't put all of them on my ballot. I did manage to get the first two DC albums and the first FSF album on there, though, but a lot of that is due to nostalgia.

I woke up with 'Jaws Theme Swimming' in my head, so I think my subcounscious is telling me to go and listen to Deja again.

I tried to listen to them this week (for the second time - a friend in high school was a big fan) and they leave me cold (har har); something v generic about their sound at least to my ears and I find the production boring.

hahaha I can hook you up later tonight if you want. it's sort of insane that it's not available anywhere, wasn't DeSoto a subsidiary of Dischord? why aren't they also on bandcamp then? and why are their labelmates (eg D-Plan) on Spotify? I'm so confused.

related, but afaik the only related thing to come out post-Juno was this pretty neat (if low-key) record from 2014 as Atoms and Void. Pretty sure the original version of this band (Ghost Wars) had one or two Blood Brothers in it but that never came together I guess. It was nice to hear Carstens' voice again.

Heh I literally ordered a copy from there this morning - I haven't heard the album in full for like 15 years (a housemate had it on CD) but I remember liking it.

oh, i should rep for my favorite kitchen sink emo/pop-punk-ish record, johnny foreigner vs. everything. johnny foreigner toured with los campesinos! early on and they have similar energies but anatomically their songs are accelerated emo (one of my friends thinks of them as an extremely poppy pretty girls make graves which isn't wrong either). vs. everything is their extremely ambitious double album featuring piano ballads and spoken word interludes

Heartwarming to see the Juno love spread through ILM. How cool would it be if those albums ended up somewhere in the top 20 or so?
<pleasedontbanme>Brad, you're not on slsk? There are some fine v0 rips floating around.</pleasedontbanme>

I don't really have that much in the way of emo in my collection so I've been doing some homework, Jejune and The Appleseed Cast have stuck with me so far.
I think I need my emo cut with something else, even if it's just, like a hint of hardcore or post-rock or whatever

I love Low Level Owl but if we're talking *emo* Appleseed Cast albums I have to go with Mare Vitalis. LLO is where they start veering into post-rock imo (not that that's a bad thing).
