the benton falls record recommended upthread is also really good! feel like almost every current mathy emo band is or has been trying to remake it

I don't really have that much in the way of emo in my collection so I've been doing some homework, Jejune and The Appleseed Cast have stuck with me so far.

I think I need my emo cut with something else, even if it's just, like a hint of hardcore or post-rock or whatever

I love Low Level Owl but if we're talking *emo* Appleseed Cast albums I have to go with Mare Vitalis. LLO is where they start veering into post-rock imo (not that that's a bad thing).

Ha, I was going to post something about Peregrine earlier, but then I realised it wasn't nominated.
Other good songs from that album are Silas' Knife, Song 3 and the fantastic February.

After that, I lost sight of them. I think they got a new drummer around that time, which didn't help.

I could well end up voting for all three nominated Appleseed Cast records...
