known as the "love drug" (date rape) but in reality more like the "puking in yr parents front yard & passing out" drug.

precisely which part of the ideal Friday night you've described is unappealing to you?

Mr Straight Toxic (ghostface), Thursday, 29 December 2005 20:33 (eighteen years ago) link

forksclovetofu = mental images of some sort of pungent, mushy vegan tofu dish (strong saag mutter or something) superimposed w/ cloven hooves, camel toes, buttcrack, etc.

forkslovetofu >>> forksCLOVEtofu.

some element of the abject is always present when something hard cleaves into something soft and mushy.

vahid (vahid), Thursday, 29 December 2005 23:39 (eighteen years ago) link

I'm too old to change now.
"Buttcrack"? Really?

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Friday, 30 December 2005 00:13 (eighteen years ago) link

I don't like tofu with cloves either. It's the past tense of the action "cleave". As in "forks clove tofu". Multiple pronged instruments cut into halves the slabs of fermented bean curd. Now isn't that enticing?
-- Forksclovetofu

I always saw it as a vegan version of 'scissors, paper, rock'.

'Clove' must be a very archaic version of the past tense of 'cleave', like 'dove' for 'dived'?

I sympathize with you Vahid -- all of my favourite deep house and minimal techno tracks don't have any vocals, so I can't participate in that thread either.

vahid, what is your complaint? How is the Miles Davis thread paraphrasable as "is jazz really music?" (aside from Geir's contributions)?

R_S (RSLaRue), Friday, 17 November 2006 20:33 (seventeen years ago) link

vahid's complain is that, like the rest of us 8th year seniors, he can't get his act together and get off of campus.

If you don't understand why hating the 90's = hating music, then you don't have the ability to process human thought.

Needless to say, I'm still upset someone chose to single me out on this thread of all places.

billstevejim (billstevejim), Friday, 17 November 2006 20:39 (seventeen years ago) link

the jazz thread reminds me of this conversation:

"do all dinosaurs turn into fossils?"
"yes, obviously"
"why do you say that?"
"have you ever seen a dinosaur that wasn't a fossil?"
